How to get rid of Bats in a Barn

God made the earth for man to take care of....and we seem to be doing a piss poor job of it. Sorry the precious paint on your cars is being stained by some bats and that they scare you when they fly past. Perhaps invest in a $5 tarp from harbor freight and cover the car rather than kill some of God's beneficial creatures.

do you know the point of entry? it may be their only way out too. I would just hang tarp over these entry points at three corners of the tarp so they can fall out , but not fly back in. first step is to get them out. they gotta go out and feed right? so let em out but not back in. then seal them up after they are gone. i would also hang a few mirrors in your barn in several places and plug in a flood lights and have a cheap house fan running to make the mirrors or mylar metal like balloons move around in constant motion so the flood lights reflecting on the mirrors would startle them from going back in. I have used cinnamon sprinkled from a dollar store in a friend's attic at point of entry and it works, but you have a barn so its probably too big to work.

Led lights, with remote hook up solar panels have come way down in price, would make an affordable lighting option, for your non electric barn. And if you set them on timers you may help evict the bats
....of course you would need to try to find where they come in at and seal it off, and possibly build some cheap quick bat houses.
....I'm sorry, but I'm in the same camp as a lot of others, and would try to do everything possible, to avoid killing the bats.

Right. Bats mostly eat night bugs such as mosquitoes, moths and the like. Remind me where the problem is.

wagne223, I do not need you to tell me what to do with my barn nor dictate to me whether or not I should kill the bats. Keep your moralistic judgements to yourself. They are not welcome here! These damned bats are ruining the paint on my vehicles and equipment even through car covers, leaving huge amounts of potentially infectious feces that could endanger my family's health and if they are making any difference in the insect population I am unable to discern it. Mosquitoes are prolific in the area around the pole barn. Martins do a much better job. God made the animals for Man, not Man for the animals! I really do not want to hear any more from you!!

Post problem on public discussion forum, receive an opinion you dont like, tell person what to go do with themselves....... First time I have been chastised on this forum......people on this forum are generally more friendly, tolerant and open to others opinions even when they dont agree with the opinion. That is why I come here and avoid other places.

Not that you care, (others might) but this is where my statement comes from........

I am an avid hunter, however, I give to wildlife way more then I take and I am sickened at the number of people that want to kill animals that "bother them" instead of looking for other options. Bear get into trash, kill them, deer eat from my garden, kill them, birds poop on my car, kill them, stray cat walks through my yard, kill it, bees made a hive in a tree, kill them, Bats are in my barn, kill them.......I read this stuff daily.

It is this thought process that gives the anti hunters and government lovers the ammo they need to convince law makers to take away our right to hunt, fish and grow our own food.
We lost bear hunting in FL because of the antis, even though the science supports a hunt. Local governments are constantly trying to regulate private gardens (mainly through water restrictions) and how many chickens we can have.

These are real problems and I am passionate about freedom and conserving wildlife.

Sorry I got long winded........monkeydo, I will be sure not to offer you my opinion any more.
