I ditto the dogs. We have three blue healers and lots of barn cats. Only the smart survive and none of our cars or equipment have cats sleeping on them. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I can see if the cats are clawing at your cloth seats etc. [censored] on your tractor which doesn't sound like that is the case. But if you don't have cloth seats, what harm are the cats doing to your tractor? What a few paw prints? It's a tractor for [censored]! Who cares? Now if it were squirrells and mice chewing at your wiring etc, I can see the point. But cats don't really hurt the machine, unless you may have cloth seats. My cat used to sleep in my tractor seat all the time, never bothered me. Besides she was a good mouser. For the amount of mice she kills, she can sleep on my tractor anytime.. ooooooh noooooo there are paw prints on my tractor...besides, most cats don't use their claws to jump up on hard surfaces,(vehicles & tractors). So that is a lame excuse to be cruel to them. Cats jump with a soft touch on vehicles. They only extend their claws when they are trying to jump very high, most tractors and cars are a small hop for a cat. They use their claws on trees etc. But the funny thing is, we take the tractors out and get them muddy and dusty and drive through brush.... who cares? My cats will jump into my lap......very soft according to my bathroom scales /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif and dig claws in everywhere. And I may be only a few feet off the floor at the bar/counter in the kitchen.

Yah..... mine usually get deleted.... his only got censored.. I must admit that I haven't ever used the words that he had and never would!........... Sometimes it isn't the words you use, but how you put those words together that get some of the moderators and other members bowels in an uproar... There are some words and some subject matter that is just taboo, and it takes time to learn all that are offensive. The learning curve can be mighty steep from New England to the Plains of the Midwest....LOL.. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Easy way to keep cats away is moth balls they hate the smell. this works on mice too. Use an sos pad in any intake mice go into; they chew into the soap and leave.

Geez, did is this a tractor forum or an SUV forum?

I made a joke post about having a hard time sticking the
bucket on my JD in the dirt because Deere put an automotive
quality finish on it. (Compared to the dull finish on my one
Kubota and the black buckets on my Ford and bigger Kubota)

Most people saw it as a joke but some didn't. I hope this
thread is a joke too.

If your tractor is being damaged by a cat it must be a HECK
of a cat or a tractor made by Tonka. Other then throwing
a blanket over the hood or leaving the hood open why worry?
I've never had a cat on my hood unless they go up the step and
seat first.

Most people worry about trade, jobs, government waste and
foolishness, health care, staying alive, keeping their homes.
In MY case, when I start worrying that my cat is sitting on my tractor
when I'm not I'll know I'm ready for the rocking chair. That's me though.

Life's just too short.

If you want to talk about REAL ANIMAL PROBLEMS...my pooch
has decided to make my tractor wash area her new DUMPING
ground. Oh how I wish I had R1s, those R4s retain that

You must not be taking your tractor anywhere off the gravel
or turf.

I tried the "just put it in the building" route, still do
most of the time but I seem to be moving a large amount
of soil inside, to the point that the broom can't push it,
I need the snow shovel! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

My "tractor cleaning area" is a nice spot about 50 x 200 that
is hard packed and sloped just right so the water runs away.

You'd think once in awhile the dog would use ANY other acre
to do her business. Probably like me at the racetrack, lazy.
Why walk to the outhouse (er port-a-potty) 200 feet away when
there is one 20 feet away!

I'm pretty careful with my stuff too, my 20 year old tractor
still looks nice even with a wrinkle here and there. Those
branches just sit and WAIT FOR YOU.

My two newer tractors have no dings, YET. After saying that
I'll probably get one TODAY!

Gotta look at things positive though, I like climbing on a
cold tractor, dropping the cat off and sitting on a WARM
seat. (must be getting old...)

Tractors are tools to be used. If you use a tool it will get some dings. I use my tractors and if they get a few battle scars, that’s just the price of getting the job done. I suppose if a tractor is a show tractor it should be washed and waxed. I know several people with tractors but none that wash and wax them or worry about a few paw prints.

I just bought a new artic cat ATV for the wife this week and I plan to take it into the woods this weekend to put a few scratches on it, so she wont feel bad when she dings it up.

Hey bird how's it going?

Problem is when I wash my tractor(s) it has to be somewhere
I can leave behind at least a couple bucket fulls of dirt,
spread out over a 8x20 area.

I have lots of woods to work so lots of opportunities for
tree rash. I've been known to pick up a can of wax for
hoods and fenders though. Has nothing to do with the
tractor's abilities, but kind of a nice feeling when someone
stops by and looks at my stump burning pile, and see's the
tractor and says "THIS is the tractor that cleared that plot?"

Kind drifting off topic, but I (and a bunch of you guys) are
probably responsible for a others learning the capabilities
of these "little" tractors.

Big yellow stuff is nice, although you have to really search
to find a contractor that is careful about not damaging the plants
you don't want damaged.

It may take me awhile to get the job done, but when I'm done
the various unique trees/bushes I want to keep are still
there.

I have found a couple of guys that are fantastic. The last
time I had the one excavator operator I like out, I teased him
wondering if he'd gotten any 'BETTER' at using the machine.
He asked what I meant. I said I knew he could turn the
pages of a phone book with his excavator, but is he
able yet to turn them with the pages WET?

Well, the recent purchase of my new truck reminded me of this recent thread. Some of you may have seen my post about my New Toy . The trouble is, the cats that live in the garage for mouse control are keen to climb on the new vehicle. And, contrary to some comments in this thread, the cats are leaving definate scratches from their claws and also scratches from their pads where they rub dirt and sand into the finish. Also, when I wash the prints off with soap and a soft wash brush, the dirt is gone but stains remain. i can still see the prints even after washing. Their feet seem to leave an oily residue that does'nt readily wash off. Not sure what the solution is, but I am ready to shoot some cats.

I hadn't thought about this in a while. Do a Google search for "scat mat". I just did and found them selling for about $49 - $89 and I know that they do work. Gives the critter a safe low amperage shock that will convince them that they don't want to be where the mat is. Some animals will go back to "roosting" after the mat is gone, but others will not. I think it is worth a try.....
