Backhoe How to store 3PH backhoe??

Thanks Kodiak, no I did not build the backhoe myself but I have converted it. Originally it was attached to the back of a small loader. I cut of the fixtures to that mashine and added 3PH bolts. I also made stabilizers out of square tubing (you can see part of them in the picture) and a new top link attached at the same place as the stabilizers so not to affect the hydraulic deep regulation. A return line for the hydraulic fluid was also built connected with a large return oil filter. The output is just about 4 GPM but I am in no hurry when digging! It realy takes time to master the technique of excavation!

Hi,

Just a side safety note, that came to mind since you mentioned you adapted the backhoe to your 3PH.

Do you have some kiind of locking bar that would prevent the hoe from lifting and jamming you between your ROPS and hoe, if something happened, like the top link pin breaking?

My factory hoe has a locking bar that extends under the two bottom 3PH lifting arms, as a safety backup in case something breaks.

THere is a safety note at Carver's Web site that describes a fatality that resulted from not using such a device. Reading that opened my eyes to a danger that I never considered.

Just a thought...

I have been thinking along the same lines after reading earlier postings on backhoe traktor safety.
I am planning to add an extra top link from the backhoe to my drawbar.

I keep my 4690 BH on a dolly too, with the stabilizers up. I tie them up to prevent leak down.

Yes, That's a REALLY nice dolly - way fancier than mine. I just hacked together some wood and big casters. I like your mounting pins, and I'm sure mine will fall apart one of these days, but it works for now.
