Unrolling fence wire can be a pain, whether it is woven wire or barbed wire. The last barbed wire I ran, I put a long pipe through the roll and walked it. I constantly had to stop and jerk the roll to get the barbs un-hung. I got a little lazy and welded this little jewel up last night. I just put the roll on the pipe and put the pipe and wire on the frame. Attach the wire to the post and then drive. I have to take the wire off the frame and at each corner so that I can line the Gator up. See the picture.

Yep, looks funny like he is on stilts or something. I suspect He was leaning over making his torso look very short in the shadow.

My father-in-law did something similar with a boompole: he used an old piece of pipe through the center of the spool and bolted each end to the boompole's frame. He then threaded the wire through the "eyelet" at the end of the pole and drove down the fence row. No ripped skin, no twisting, no tangling.
Nice job, Brent!

Brent, that's a handy attachment to have for your Gator. I saw one somewhere on TBN that was loader pallet forks with a pipe through the roll with the ends resting on the forks. You just tilt up the bucket and back down the fenceline to unroll the wire. Your setup looks like it works very well and gives one more reason to buy a utility vehicle like the Gator, freeing up the tractor for other tasks. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Of course, if you have a receiver mounted to the drawbar, you could use your un-roller on a tractor, or pickup truck, or etc. etc. etc... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Actually the sun was to my back and the picture was taken facing down a slope so it made it look a little out proportion. I was wondering if I would get any comments.
