Deciding on which tractor is tough! I thought it would be easy but, i keep going back and forth!

If the sound is all it's coming down to, I can tell you they make some amazing ear muffs now that will make you think your riding in a Cadillac for a couple hundred bucks.

The engine sounds don't bother me. Of course I'm not running WOT for 8 hours a day either. I have been running my Dad's 1951 Allis Chalmers bulldozer off and on for the last year and I do wear earmuffs when I'm on it. That little 2-71 Detroit with a straight pipe and no muffler just five feet from my ears gets old in a hurry. The 5055 is certainly softer than that.

I have just 22 hours on my 5045E. I love it so far but it is way too early to have a accurate review of it. Much more tractor then the WM55 from New Holland. For one thing you can adjust the tread widths over quite a range to suite your needs. I have my loaded R1 rears set out eight feet wide for work in my hilly sugar bush. Makes for a very stable platform to work from and to use the loader on places that aren't perfectly level and really reduces the pucker factor when brush hogging side hill pasture land. As to the noise there is always the need to hear whats going on with the equipment behind you so having super ear muffs might be a two edged sword, but I would wear them when doing any long day boring task.
How well built are they? I'll let you know in 5000 hours.

I have 35 hours on my 5075e and am very pleased with it. I wear ear plugs so the noise is not a problem. I looked at the Kubota too but went with the JD. I work 20 acres with my 5075e. You can't go wrong with the JD.

I forgot to mention I purchased my tractor from Fosters in South TX and I live in North TX. They were great to deal with and I would do it again. Jay in Hockley is who I would recommend.

Foster in hockley is one of the dealers i am considering using but, they are higher than the other two dealers (Brookside and Coufal-Prater)

Next comparison is JD 5065e(economy line from india) or NH T4020 (non-economy line from italy). I understand that this is a apples to oranges comparison but, the price range is apples to apples. The dealer i'm talking to does not have the T4020 (he has to trade for it) so, i will not be able to test before it get here. the T4020 has power shuttle shift the 16.9gpm hydraulic pump and 16.9-22 tires. the dealer seams to think the tires may be a problem for me. I am not sure but, 22 in diameter rims on tractor seems very small. my current CUT has 28" rims. I may not be understanding the "22" correctly and have asked the dealer to get me a picture of the tractor.

I understand you guys are john deere guys but, all i am looking for is the most tractor for the money. I want a tractor that will out live me and still be functional!

That's exactly why I went JD. :2cents:
Looking at the specs on that NH T4020 It does compare on paper at least with the JD 5055E. power to weight ratios , tread width, fuel economy, . I'd want to sit on one and see how the controls suit you and check out it's reputation over in the blue threads.

Normally, I would agree about John Deere but in this case the JD is not in the same class, IMO. I compared the two tractors on tractor.com and the only advantage JD has is a couple of hp at the pto....every other category along with all the extra features show the T4020 to be ALOT more tractor on paper. Again, I know the John Deere is a economy, no option, entry tractor and the nh is a true, non economy utility with a few more options/features.

Just tring to the most bang for my buck

I suppose it comes down to what you consider "A Lot" . What capacity that the T4020 has that is JD has less of will let you run a piece of equipment on one but not the other? What feature lets you do a job with one and not the other? I'm not saying they are equal, I don't have both spec sheets printed out in front of me. Just asking what you have found that matters to you. And what is the price difference?
