thinking of upgrade to 2305

The prices for the toothbar and box blade seem way too high. Have you tried the JD configurator to see what it says? You can also have the JD site send your request for quote to multiple dealers. The toothbar should be around $300 and the box blade (2048) around $800. 1048L should be much less than that.

I don't see Power Beyond which is required for the BH. It's about $200 - unless it's being included in the BH price.

I would keep shopping for better prices. The price can vary depending on how you are going to pay too - see if they took that into account.

I was thinking the price is a little high as well. If you look at the John Deere site the MMM is $1300 and they want $1565. The for the loader JD site says $2850 and the dealer says $2700. That is not much of a difference. Basically after looking closer at the JDsite all he did was lower some numbers and increase others. The price is almost identical.

This is what the dealer told me

JD 2305 - $10,400
MMM 54C - $1565
FEL 200CX - $2700
BH - $5700

Total - $20,365

This is off the JD site

JD 2305 $10,979
MMM $1300
FEL $2850
BH $5260

Now I need to add the PBK $207
Labor to install BH $320

Total - $20,916

$551 difference off list price

How much do you think the dealer marks up from what they pay? I am thinking 20%

Figure the dealer makes 20% mark up. That means he paid $16,733 and would be making a profit of $4183 I am figuring we all need to eat and they deserve to make a profit. If the dealer splits the difference and he makes 10% and give me 10%. I would pay $18,825 and he would make a profit of $2,091 Now if we got crazy and the mark up was only 5% he would still make a profit of $1045 and I would pay $17,778.

Does this sound at all logical or am I way off base?

Just my two cents but I would offer $17,500 and if the dealer won't do it I would walk. In this economy you need to be very careful and judicious with your money, it may get alot harder to come by.

If you look on Machinefinder at closeout prices for new (never sold) tractors you may get a better idea of what wholesale is.

It only cost me $80 to fill both of my rear tires of my 2210 with Rim Guard, that $225+ price seams pretty high.

I don't know if you've thought of it, but you could pick up a used 2210 and save a lot.

I paid $13,700 for my 2305 with the 62C MMM, 200CX loader, iMatch hitch, ballast box and light guards - delivered, serviced and ready to roll. That was in the neighborhood of 14% off.

If you have more JD dealers in the area I would do some comparison shopping.

Good luck!

I asked how much they would give me for a trade in. $3000 if I upgrade. I was upgrading to a JD2305 then the dealer gives me no break. It was not the amount it was the fact he would not move off list price. I paid list for my X320 and have had a year and a half of headache. So I started calling around. I can get A Kubota BX24 and keep the X320 and still come out ahead.

I am so disappointed in JD that I am thinking of jumping ship.

I agree with Cast and Blast, I would find a different dealer and get about 15% off list. FWIW, while we all like our toys I would skip the backhoe attachment, it is too much money for what little it can do. JMHO. You can hire a real backhoe and operator and get alot of work done for that much money.

You may have better luck having the new dealer fix up the other unit for you and just keep it. I wouldn't elaborate too much about the past when talking to the new dealer either.

Also in the FWIW department, I went to a home and garden show today in Columbus, Ohio, and the John Deere dealer at the show had a new 2305 with loader & mowing deck for $13,993 (supposedly a "Show Special"). It had a rear blade attached, which was extra. It really seemed to me they were waiting for some guy to come up and say "throw in the rear blade and I'll take it", like that would be the bargaining chip. Just struck me as funny about the rear blade, but I didn't think it was a bad price on the tractor, loader, & deck.

If you're not getting satisfaction from your dealer on the X320 (I presume this is the place you bought it and have tried to get it fixed) then it may be time to escalate to the regional rep.

As far as keeping the JD2305 at list, I'd tell them where they could shove that deal. Do a dealer locate and start making some calls to other dealers in the area.

BX24 is a nice unit too. Wrong color, but a nice unit. :)

Good luck!

I would love to know how this worked out. I recently purchased a repo 2305 with BH and FEL from a local dealer. It had 22.1 hours on it and looked new. Previous homeowner just putted around his yard with it.

I looked at Kabota too. I wanted a JD but they were generally more pricy. The one thing that pushed me over the edge to JD was when the Kabota dealer said his product was as close to a JD as I could get. I love the machine, period. I was on the fence for a while about the BH but no regrets there (now). The FEL is good for moving around soft stuff but does not dig into hard soil as welol so I use the BH to loosen it up first.

I wanted small but it performs big. No regrets.
