Probably one of those thing to have done. I think it may be a bigger job than it looks. A less than perfect job may haunt you for years every time you use it. You could get it fixed by a pro here for about $150 I would guess. A good welder can make it look new and perhaps be better than new.

I think a professional welder would repair the damage and make it look like new. This is a critical place to be learning how to cut and weld in my opinion. So I would be looking for a machine shop or steel fabrication shop. Steel has a tendency to twist, turn and move when heat is applied.

You guys who think you can successfully straighten a piece of bent angle so it looks new have obviously never tried it. In order for angle iron to bend, one side has to stretch the steel, so getting it back straight means you have to stretch the other side the same amount which would then make the piece a bit too long. Yes you can untwist it and maybe make it work enough so he could hook up to a QA attachment with a little beating an banging, but to make it back to the original dimensions is going to require cutting and replacing that piece. So I would put back a much stronger piece when doing that. A boxed tubing in .250 wall or thicker would be my choice.

Gary, I agree that the piece needs replacing but the OP can't do it nor does he have the tools, this process needs to be done by a pro-welder.

He want a quick way to fix it.
He has been asked for his capability and tool availability but nothing to this nature has been posted.

Until we know the above, we can't make a repair suggestion that can get him back in the tractor seat.

I havnt seen a pic that shows me its angle. Since angle has almost zero torsional strength it would be a horrible design and hopefully thats box section. ... Regardless, either way the tractor hydraulics should be able to straighten it in place by methods outlined in the thread. This would probably work acceptably even w/o heat, but a careful tandem process in several steps using the hydraulics and a couple propane torches to heat in areas that arent moving in proportion to whats needed, would be best. -- Short of a rebuild of course.

Just an FYI. Medical condition prevents me from welding.

Wedge
I have a pacemaker and my doctor told me I could not weld. I called the pacemaker manufacturer and he said I could if I followed certain rules. He sent me a list of the rules. If this is your reason, the check your supplier.

Wedge, I put a block of hard maple firewood behind the upper side and used the tractor hydraulics to pull the other side up to just beyond even to account for spring back. Mine was very large solid round stock - yours may distort but I would try straightening first - what do you have to loose!
