How would you [safely] take down this tree?

I think you will be surprised how easy it pulls down. I would be careful with The power puller since it could turn into a weapon. If a gentle tug doesn稚 get it buy a rope.

Why do you say it could become a weapon?

The rope on it should break before the chain, and it is designed that the handle will bend before the rope breaks. Or, am I missing something?

There can be some tension in it and it can get launched. If I read correctly he is just going to use it to get further away to pull the tree down.

Run your pull line through a snatch block anchored at ground level and a lot of ballast in the FEL or tractor front. That will keep you tractor rear weheels pulling and not being lifted.

Exactly, I'd skip the puller and just tug on the dang thing with your tractor. It'll (probably) fall right down.

As a shooter, I like the idea of firing a dozen rounds of buckshot at the problem. Cheap, quick and safe....at least where I live with no one within 3/4 mile of me. Heck even a full box of 25 rounds is less than $10 when I buy them on sale.

^^^ I could crack off that whole box (and probably another) from 10 yards and not hit the dang tree once.

... and if it didn't work, at least you had some fun in the mean time.
