How would you spend $4.6k at Cabelas?

Do you mean Damascus steel?? Why would you want to go backwards? I would thing you would want something you could shoot, I mean with modern loads and that wouldn't be damascus...

SR
My thoughts also; wasn't aware that you could still buy guns in Damascus steel, unless maybe the receiver or parts of the receiver were made with the Damascus process. Knives, yes.

Probably don't know the right name for it... But a finish that isn't traditionally black blueing but an inconsistent dark finish (almost looks worn) with gold inlay... Really like the contrast against the engravings....

I think you are referring to "color case"...

You can see the "color case" or color case hardening here on my Krieghoff Semper,

12 gauge, .22 rimfire and what is the 3rd caliber? Maybe 8x57?

Cabela's is an hour and a half drive for me each way, so it's more of a treat when I go there then anything else. I shop online all the time and have found a few good deals there, especially with their home decor. My wife LOVES all things antlers, so I get her a lamp or basket, or just about anything with antlers. When looking for her deer rifle, we found the best selection at Cabela's. Dozens of different youth models out where you can pick them up, look at them and not have anybody getting in the way. Cost was a little more, but it was in stock and it wasn't all that much more then what we saw at the discount stores near home. I'd go again to buy a rifle just because there where so many options.

I'm not into fancy, high end guns. Mine all end up in the mud or dirt anyway. I don't look at them when I'm not using them, so fancy isn't something that gets appreciated.

For that amount of money, I would be all over updating hunting clothes, boots and some camping gear. New sleeping bags and rain gear for Alaska!!!

Then there is always their outdoor, backyard stuff that is really nice. Fire pits, chairs and lighting. I think I could be very happy having my home done all in Cabela's stuff inside and out!!!!!

On a side note, has anybody heard anything more on Bass Pro Shops buying Cabela's? Lots of talk about it happening on the hunting forums I frequent, but nothing lately.

It's 16 ga., with removable sleeve inserts to turn it into a 20 ga. 3" when ever I want. The RF bbl. is also Krieghoff, it's removable and adjustable for sight in and has 100% repeatability. I have two, one in 22lr and the other is 22 Win. Mag..

The center fire is 8x57jrs, I load 200 NP's (Nosler Partitions) to 2,550 fps and they are very accurate

and deadly!

It's kept me fed for long periods of time in Alaska, harvesting everything from moose and bear on down to grouse, rabbits and about everything else...

These days, it's still my "go to gun" and it's put a pile of deer and other meat in my freezer, including this meat buck just the other day,

It's worked out just about "perfect" for me...
