2 more pics from the archive... my son Bob on the '52 B that I have now, and the '45 H that I sold a neighbor and am desperately trying to buy back. He can't start it, but I can.

You're just a few miles down the road from me. Turn right onto Cabin Point Road off Rt 35 about 8 miles from Homeville. Like your pictures.

And here's my daughter Tori in Dec. 1994.on my '73 4430 (bought winter 1973 #13805.) Helluva tractor. Traded a JD 4000 for it. Listed for $15000. Dad bought one like it in '76 (#51818) for $24000. The difference was the gas embargo of '73 when fuel went up 150%. Sound familiar? Pulled a 4600 4-16 flip plow and a 16 ft center-fold disk with it. Most sorry disk JD ever made. Impossible to level. Had a 148 loader for it.

Nice tractors. Them H's are real collectors tractors. Did your have fenders and lights?

Lights but no fenders. Matter-of-fact, I can't recall ANY pre-1960 JD or IH row crop tractors around here with fenders. They got in the way of the mounted implements that bolted to the axles. Just were not popular in this area prior to the 3 pt. hitch. First one we had with fenders was a 1960 JD 4010. Had a '53 Oliver 88 Row Crop with fenders, but it was used for drawbar work only. Had a '55 Oliver Super 55 with fenders, but then it had 3 pt. hitch.

My sister came with her camera Friday and here are some pics of the "52 B and her 44H with HS44NC 14" bottoms plowing. With the new points I had to come up on the cylinder an inch. Enjoy... I did. DSC01017.jpgDSC01016.jpgDSC01022.jpgDSC01029.jpgDSC01028.jpg

New project... pulled my granddad's 1917 Ayers Peanut Planters out of the barn today. Rusty but everything still works on both of them. Little blowing off with an air hose and a few judicious drops of oil and I think they would still plant. Also got his JD #1A corn sheller out of another barn. Galvanized steel with RED trim and RED decals. Dates to the 20's. Something to do on a cold, blustery day.
