But did he ever fix the hole in the top of the ROPS? If not you should, especially if your machine ever sets outside - Rust and everything. If you have not fixed it yet I have a quick fix. Cut threads in the hole you drilled and screw in a machine screw. Have to put some silicon on the threads to seal them up for water tight seal. Little touch up paint and no one will ever know the difference.

I'm thinking I want to add some lights to my ROPS and string the wire up the tube. But once that is done, this might be a great way to finish the job. Well done! And the laughs are terrific.

Well here's the deal I also drilled two extra 1/4" holes in the top of the roll bar for just that purpose and strung wires up the tube but I didn't want to hear from all of the Kubota safety police types about how it would affect the integrity of the steel on some sub atomic level. So don't tell anyone about it OK, it'll just be our little secret.

Now I was never involved with such a thing, but you ought to see what happens when someone snaps the top off three or four cans of that triple expanding foam and throw them in a car and close the doors! That's some tough foam!!

Reminds me, saw this in Home Depot one day...

The one thing that worries me about the foam fill is this. Since it isn't a two part product that cures chemically, it must have solvents that have to evaporate in order for the foam to cure. Seems like it wouldn't cure sealed up in the roll bar, and eventually the liquid would settle to the bottom and the foam would go flat.

Good way to test this would be to shoot a zip lock bag full and let it sit for a few days to see what it does sealed up. That is if the solvents don't dissolve the bag.

Yes , this is something that concerned me after reading
that it needs moisture to physically harden. I've been tapping the ROPS
for 2 weeks , and it appears to still be sound-deadened ......
Have to keep watching this one. I suppose I could have squirted
water into the ROPS first , to provide such moisture.
This could be one for MythBusters. LOL !

Hmm if it needs moisture to harden, then it may indeed be a 2 part product with ambient humidity serving as the second component. Seems that the humidity differences between Arizona and Florida would affect how it behaves if that were the case.

So, since single stage urethane foam needs moisture from the air to cure, and the foam that was injected into the roll bar cured first at the holes and sealed them, will the foam in the center ever dry?
