HST Wine, Not any more

Hey Guys ...... I'm just wondering how many of the HST whine complaints, after changing from Kubota SUDT to a generic or synthetic UDT, are related to the ROPs? ;) Your solution is interesting!

Well , it's a 20 min job to disconnect the wires & remove the ROPS.
If all goes quiet , then it's all sonic , and nothin' to do with
oil whatsoever .
The BX ROPS must be peculiar in its shape.

So it would seem you've compromised the integrity of your rops in favor of some kind or rigid air bag.
Seriously this is brilliant I kinda wish mine weren't folding. I could probably get a similar effect by filling my stock tool box with foam. It's loud as ****.

It got me thinking about my folding one, it would be easy enough to fill, might have to try it and see if it helps.

I said I noticed this long ago, but did not change it. Now I am jeolous of the excitement. I may do mine too.

I'm considering leaving it mounted, but pop a hole in the very top, and use a plastic extender to preferentially target both sides, then fill the top. Then J-B weld over the hole, then a spritz of paint.

If a different oil increases the whine, then that is a difference in the oil I would think, since a ROPS knows nothing of oil changes. I suppose of your only objection was the sound, then the new quiet is meaningful, and will allow the different oil.

But, we are each different. If I know a different oil would produce a louder sound (if only I could hear it) I would still be biased against that oil change.

On the number of holes issue...my BX2200 has four bolts per side to hold the rops. I THINK some wires come up through the center hole..but I could be wrong on this. I think we may be witnessing tractor evolution, and a researcher may be able to prove my tractor is a forbear of your tractor due to yours having an unneeded hole...much like an appendix. :)

Well I just pulled the ROP off of my BX2360 and filled it with expanding foam as noted in this thread. Wow what a difference. I engaged my mmm and heard some noises I wasn't used to. Started to worry then realized that the HST whine used to mask them. No problem with the mmm however.

Thanks for an excellent suggestion. Very effective and simple to implement!

You know, if you squirt some of that expanding foam into your ears, there would also be less/no HST noise??? Just a thought as i wonder out to feed the dogs on this cold rainy day. :D

Now I was never involved with such a thing, but you ought to see what happens when someone snaps the top off three or four cans of that triple expanding foam and throw them in a car and close the doors! That's some tough foam!!

Hypothetically speaking, how would one snap the top off one of those cans?

Well, I'm told that that little spray nozzle that you screw the tube with the trigger on it will snap right off and the can empties itself. I would think you'd screw the tube with the trigger on the can and then snap the trigger off, which would then be the same as opening the trigger by pulling it.
