I just sold my 16ft 3.5 ton and need a 18ft 5 ton . Hudson is 500 bucks more than gatormade . Anyone know if its worth that much more . I know nothing about either except what I have read on here about gators , not all good. Hudson dealer is 60 miles from me and gator 100 miles , not like its easy to compare . I really need the extra 2 feet or would have not sold my horton . hudson is 3,469 and gator 2,985

There's a Hudson dealer near me in Williamsburg/Toano (could be the same one you're referring to). The trailers I looked at seemed well made. They didn't have any equipment haulers in stock, but the guy said it only takes 2-3 weeks to order. I thought their prices were a little high, but they are associated with a car dealership, so maybe they expect to haggle.

I ended up buying a Down2Earth trailer from Dubberly Tractor in Chester (Chester, Virginia, Trailer, Tractor, Lawn Mower, Kubota, Dixie Chopper, Hudson Bros, Down 2 Earth, Hawke, AOK, Carry-On, Dealer, Service, Financing), which is also where I bought my Kubota. I happened to like the quality, price, and the sales staff there, and they got me a custom order in only 2 weeks.

Dubberly had a good selection of 18' and larger equipment haulers in stock when I was there in January/February. Looks like their price in an 18'/10K model is $3200 according to the website, and I can tell you it will be a well made trailer for the money.

They would only be 68 miles from you. You can call and ask them what's in stock (804) 748-9815 before driving over. I worked with Troy, who is a good guy. Tell him Craig from NASA sent you, and he'll take good care of you.

I have never owned a Hudson but from what I know they are a step above Gatormade. Gatormade is a lot of bang for the buck but some things like wiring and paint are done cheap.

Depending on what you want: I have a Kauffman from Lexington nc. It is very basic, 5" channel frame, bias ply tires, 2 5.2k axles, heavy duty ladder rear ramps, no beaver tail etc and it was 1990 cash from the factory. For what I needed the trailer for, it is perfect.

I don't know about Hudson but if you get a Gatormade you will probably be unhappy with the wiring. The money I saved on my Gatormade was worth the time to replace some wiring though, and I have an enclosed trailer with a lot of electrical things (loading lights, winch, power jack, etc.)

I have never owned a Gatormade but have owned a 16' and 18' Hudson trailer. Hudson's are very well built.

Hudson and Kaufman are my two top choices in trailers. The Hudson's are really top of the line, great design, paint, wiring, etc. With that said, they are also a premium price. I decided on a Kaufman and have been very happy with it. They are a little different than the Hudson, but also well built, good paint, good wiring, etc. Also was several hundred less than Hudson. IIRC my 8000lb 18' equipment trailer was about $2600, which I thought was a pretty good deal. I wouldn't buy a gatormade, the few I've seen had terrible fit/finish/wiring.

Well, never heard of Hudson, never seen a Kaufman nor a gatormade, but out west here there are a lot of Watson and Big Bubbas that are well built. My 7k is a Big Bubba's, and my 14k skid steer trailer is a Watson. I would definitely recommend both. I paid $5500 for the 14k, and $1950 for the Big Bubba's. Both are 18'.

I would pay the extra $$$ for a Hudson. I don't regret paying the extra money for the two that I have owned. Hudson brand is one of the few things I consider "overbuilt" these days.
