Hummingbirds!!! Seeing any yet??

Haven't seen any for a day or two. Must be on their way back south from the east coast of Lake Huron.

Ruby's have been at my feeders in Manitoba for the last couple of weeks.

The weekend I put the feeders out we had a snow squall move through with big winds and and about an inch of snow. Next morning snow was melting and hummers showed up at the feeder. Couldn't believe the little guys would be able to survive the snow and cold temps.

Probably would have died without your feeder.

I had another hummingbird caught in the garage yesterday. Hummingbirds only fly up. They never seem to grasp the fact that they have to fly down to get out of the open garage door.

At least four hummers died in my garage before I closed in the ceiling. They would get up in the truss webbing and not come down. I would leave the OH door up for hours while I was not in the garage and they would still be up in the trusses when I checked back.

We have had a "charm" (collective noun) of hummingbirds at our tiny feeder since Sunday. Eight to twelve birds and they have been emptying the feeder daily. Here is a quick video (cell phone at dusk, so not very good) - Hummer charm - YouTube

That's great! We feed them every year (they stick around all spring/summer/part of fall here), but never see more that 2-3 at a time, and usually just 1-2. I fill 2 feeders every 10-14 days...if I'm not being lazy about it.

We get them by the dozens and they are here most of the year. December and January they disappear for awhile. We have two feeders which get filled two or three times each day.

We've been getting quite a few for a while now. Got a couple feeders hanging by the barn and we'll sit in chairs not 10' from them and watch the little guys.
