We are 80 miles North of the storm. As it moves toward us the wind is picking up, gust about 30 mph now and heavy rain. Total rain today at 10:00 PM is 9". We are on a hill so there is not a problem with flooding however we cannot leave because the roads are flooded. There has been no interruption of utilities.

We are still dry with utilities it is continuing to rain we are at 13+".

The flooding in Houston has been predicted for the last 5 days. Why weren't the low lying areas evacuated. I guess the mayor made the wrong call. This flood was not unexpected.

I live about 325 miles from the current center of the storm and we have been having tornado warnings in my area for a couple of hours. There has been one confirmed report of a tornado touchdown, and luckily it was in a very rural area with no injuries reported.

MSM is only interested in NYC & LA & DC ... rest of the country is an inconvenient "fly-over" region. :airplane: Your governor says the Houston flooding is an unprecedented 500 year flood, breaking all recorded rainfall records with more still to come.

Media seems to be looking for a Katrina in Texas, it's not here....

The SF Bay Area news has been very short of coverage... one reported questioned if the president would sit this out after pulling up remarks he made about Katrina.

Don't know what to say other than it is almost lack of interest until or unless it can be made political...

The media here has been wall to wall coverage of the Patriot Prayer rally for days... the rally that did not happen but the opposition was out in force at every level...

Weather channel starting to paint picture over next 2-4 days. Center to drift off shore, strengthen, dump as much rain on Houston as already has happened, and then move over Houston. Get out if you can...
