Just got power back after 29 hours. Worse than Florence.
The eye of the storm went over us on Thursday and not a big deal. The front of the eye had some wind and rain but nothing big. We had on the TV which uses OTA and with bad winds the signal is breaks up. Not too bad with Michael and pretty much useless for Flo.
However, there has to be a however, I noticed watching the radar all day that the storm was rebuilding a band on the back side of the eye.
That made me nervous....
The TV weather dude is pretty good and he said that a model was showing 60-70 mph winds in the back edge of the storm.:shocked::shocked: The model was correct.:thumbdown::thumbdown:
The back band only lasted 30 minutes or so but we lost power.
After the storm was gone, we check the outage map and I went out to take a look. No trees down east or north or us but I found ONE old tree had fallen on a line 4-5 miles west of us. That one itty, bitty break had taken out power for hundreds of homes. I could have picked up the logs off the lines and the lines were not broken just pulled down from the poles which is a good thing. We checked that location a couple of times today and no power crews out there.

The wifey was in town this evening, which did not loose power, and noticed a stream power trucks heading west! Woo HOO! Figured they were heading towards the power line and they were. A few hours later we had power back! Happy dance time.:laughing::laughing:
Lots of outages in our area. Michael took the powers that be by surprised me thinks. No pre positioning of power crews. With what Flo did east and south of us and then what Michael did to FLA and GA, the power crews have to be stretched pretty thin.

We had no damage when I left the house yesterday to see what was happening. However, there is that word again, when I got home I noticed some root balls in the air. :confused3::shocked:
While I was gone there must have been another wind gust that took down three trees. Thankfully well away from the house. The wifey heard the trees fall even though they are almost 1,000 feet away from the house. Easy firewood I suppose and the trees went left and right of my deer stand.

Dan
