I have recently come up with a huskvarnia? riding mower with a 24 hp Briggs and Stratton.
I'll spare the details and get to the problem...It has a new battery, and a new clutch drive .When the belt is engaged it kills the motor, and I think it could be a safety switch or maybe the button you pull out to engage the belt.I'm almost tired of buying new parts.

I don't know a thing about your piece of equipment, but you mention a button to engage the belt. is this electric engagement. Did you check for a safety brake not disengaging? when motor is off can you free turn the blades?

Yes you can turn the blades and it is electricclutch, and I will check safety brake tonight. It is a night mare ,the tractor part rides like a lincoln ,the motor runs quiet and smooth but pull the knob and everything dies.

just thinking here, if when you engage belt, can you flutter and or increase RPM's, will it try to keep running. if yes, then check air intake, and or fuel supply. if either is restrictive then belt engagement might be enough to shut it down.

G'day I would be checking a seat safety switch. Maybe even jump it out of the circuit just for diagnosis

The ignition (keyswitch) on this tractor should have 4 positions OFF, RUN W/REVERSE ENABLED , RUN WITHOUT REVERSE and START, when you start the tractor the key flips back to "run without reverse" by default , manually turn the key back one more click (towards off) and test the electric clutch switch , if it does NOT stall then your reverse indicator switch either needs adjusted or is defective. Rather than disengage the clutch to prevent mowing in reverse Husky chose to stall the motor, it really seems sometimes that the people who design these "features" have never even seen a tractor much less mowed with one.
