Check to be sure rate of drop screw under seat isn't completely closed down. HYD HI-LO is a hydraulically controlled 2 speed that requires a lever(rabbit-turtle) on dash on LH side of steering wheel. To repair spraying under seat 1st disconnect hose between scv & RS housing. No oil should exit scv with control lever in neutral. If no oil exits scv then RS housing under seat needs to be removed to R&R RS control valve seals & RS piston seals.

ok my tractor doesn't have a lever on the dash so i guess it doesn't have the hi-lo set up. Are you talking about the 3''short hose, if so don't I need to take off SCV to do this. The engine running also?

You're correct in the fact that you only need to loosen scv to remove hose to check for scv oil leakage. Yes I agree it's very important to check both low & high pressures. Diagnosing closed center hyd problems will make a person grey haired.

I would also mention that TX Jim was a service manager for a Deere dealer and has a lot of experience with these model tractors. I would heed his advice, he has helped many people with good instruction and resolved many tractor issues on this forum.

Thanks for compliment BUT there are a lot of very knowledgeable people on this site including you that understand JD's closed center hyd system.

You need to diagnose first before you open anything . Test all in engage AND in disengage and note all pressures before opening anything !

DITTO good diagnostics before replacing parts is a must on closed center hyd systems.

Ok so take off the SCV and take hose off(I'm asumming this is the in flow that feeds SCV right?), then put back on ,in neutral position, start tractor and if no oil comes out off hole towards SCV then what?

As I said ...all the taps must be in the close posision....ready to be opened when needed .

That hose you must take of is the one between the mcv and the rockshaft.

Im getting confused here, is it not the hose that is between the RS housing and the SCV. When your sitting on the seat on the right side under the seat is that little 3'' hose.
