Re: Hydraulic Chute Rotator on the BX2750 Snowblower
PineRidge...... I have the hoses from years ago when I was in the truck equipment business. 1/4" was not a popular size, so there were a few left over. The bolt is a round head Allen machine screw that is soft steel. I checked it for hardness, and I would say that it is about a #2 quality. Got it at the hardware store where quality isn't a factor. Also got the bushing there. They have a cardboard drawer selection of bushings. It cost $3.20, so I figured it was cheap enough to give it a try and if it didn't work out, I wasn't out much money. The biggest pain was remembering how to adjust the King Pin reamers. Been 30+ years since I used them last.
Killer B.......... You are correct, if you don't pay attention to what you are doing, you can really "screw" it around and do some serious damage. That is the reason for the "regulators" on the motor. They will slow it to the point that it won't turn too fast and I know that I will be watching it turn. If I don't, I will get a face full of snow!!! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
SandyC......... I paid $50 for the motor..... $30 for the motor bracket.... $20 for the bent steel bracket.....$3.20 for the bushing.... $50 for the regulators, coupling, and misc. fittings from
Surplus Center..... $8.00 for paint.... and the value of the 2 hoses???? Male and female quick disconnects $25..... so I guess that the whole thing all totaled is going to be around $200. My reason for going hydraulic is that I don't like using electric motors with dealing with wires, fuses, relays, etc. for tractor use. I will post the final pictures and report when I have it working tomorrow. I guess that I have a total of 4 -6 hours in the project if I don't count the time that I spent chasing down different items like the two right angle NPT fittings.... went to a friends home to get them and wound up spending the day.. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
