Hydraulic fluid frothing...

The saga nearly over and I can finally write the end of the story.

I looked in vain on Sunday (Saturday's are round-to-it days) and could not find the quick attach coupler. It appears as though most of the garden variety tractor/home supply stores do not carry JD hydraulic replacement parts. I think I know why but won't go there. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Located a JD dealer on the way to work and had to order a replacement ($14.35 - thank you very much!!). Oh my, look at the new tractors - drool, slobber, no, no - only parts Terry. /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif So I got two, not going to loose anymore weekend tractor fun, err work time.

Fixed, done, first tractor casuality corrected. Now, I can get to the more serious work: rear lights, mount stuff/toolbox, hooks on FEL. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Damn... fixed the leak but the FEL still drops. /w3tcompact/icons/mad.gif

As mentioned, got the parts and connected the FEL. Tested it and no leaks. Woo-who!!!

So, I turned off the tractor and left the FEL about 21 inches off the ground to see if it would drop. Son of a female dog, it did. Dang thing dropped 3 inches in a half an hour.

Uttering many bad words - just like being in the Navy again!!

Latest update....

Talked to my JD dealer and he said that the with the engine turned off, the FEL, from a fully raised position, would be on the ground in 3 hrs. So, in his opine, it is normal. Done. Finis.

My 4700 + 460 FEL will leak down as well. If I leave the bucket off the ground and turn off the engine. Eventually the bucket will be on the ground. T'ain't timed it but a couple hours seems about right.

I have a leak in one of my fitting in the Power Beyond Kit that only shows up when I have the backhoe attached. My dealer gave me the part that we think will fix the problem but I have yet to put it on. Some time soon....

I do not have any other apparent leaks and just replace a faulty coupler. Sometimes you have to expend your energy in other areas and that's my plan.
