Spoke with Ken a DHH. He stated TBN has steered quite a bit of business his way. If a business provides good products at reasonable prices with great service, I don't see how they can go wrong. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Great.

But can you offer the same low pricing and fitting choices as the "real" hydraulic store fronts? That will be the key to your success and probably means sinking money into inventory.

If I have to go to 2 places to get what I need (hoses plus loose fittings) it is not cost effective for me. I want and like one stop shopping with low pricing and dependable customer service. One without the others does no one any good.

Have you or anyone else ever inquired about warranty? I bought hose from Discount Hydraulic Hose and because of the engine problem with my machine they might have two hours of use, but I doubt that. The other day I started the machine to move it and one of the hoses blew. E-mail to DHH has gone unanswered. Back when I e-mailed about purchasing hoses, I sent it on a Saturday and got a reply on Sunday. Now I send during the work week and no answer. My crystal ball tells me it's being ignored. Any way I need another hose. Any more suggestions where?

that would be a big investment in inventory. the shop i work at has an assortment of hydraulic fittings and hose as well as crimping machine and all so we can make out own hoses, we have over 10 grand in inventory and still it doesnt look like alot and occasionaly we still have to go to other places to get fittings, theres just so many variations and types that you cant stock everything

Did the hose rupture or did the crimped end blow off the hose? I might also recommend a nice email explaining the problem more specifically and let them know that their company came highly recommended by members of the TBN community which you yourself are a member. I'm sure they don't want to tarnish their good reputation over a single hydraulic hose. Maybe point them in the direction of this thread.

PineRidge,

The hose itself blew out.

Up-date to all:

I had a phone message from Discount Hydraulic Hose when I returned home very late last night. They stated my e-mails had gone to their spam folder and was just by chance they had checked it before deleting. Anyway they stated the hoses have a 90 day warranty and are making me a replacement and sending it out today. They have asked for the defective hose to be returned and even gave me their UPS number. I will pay the return UPS myself because they are standing behind their product.:D

I really figured these folks would make the hose right for you and I'm glad they did. The customer service really speaks highly for them.

I could not agree more. I highly recommend dealing with the people!:D

They seem to have started up a new web site also:http://65.61.169.35/

PS Why can't we have text display for a url anymore?

Pine,

Check the FAQ. Even though there is no specific editing icon for it, you can do what you want. Here is a link to the url code. The link should say "Pointer to FAQ" and take you there.

This story take another twist. I posted on 7/25/06 that Discount Hydraulic Hose had contacted me saying they were sending another hose. As in had already sent it. They only asked I send in the old hose. I have been gone since 7/27 and I returned home to find out the hose was never sent and it sounds has if they don't want to replace it. My daughter had answered the call and she said they mentioned something about the bend radius being too tight. I replaced exactly what was on the machine. Well with one exception. I ordered R2 hoses, the statement from DHH says R2 hose, but when I removed the hose from the machine, it noticed it was labeled R1. I sent an e-mail asking for the return address and explaining the R2 / R1 thing and they only replied about the address. No mention about my ordering and paying for R2 and getting R1. These are the 1/2" hoses from the tractor manifold to the loader valve and it looks as though the other hose that was ordered as R2 is also R1, although it's hard to read w/o removing. No reply on that either.

Bottom line: I cannot recommend anyone dealing with this outfit. The seem to speak with forked tongue.

Hello friends,

Ken here, from Discount Hydraulic Hose. I am aware of the problem one of our customers had with a hose assembly we made for him. I wrote up a request for a replacement to be made and shipped to him the same day we learned of the problem.

Unfortunately, that didn't happen. There was no malicious intent on the part of anyone. Someone just screwed up. In fact, I learned only today that this customer never received his replacement hose. I have taken steps to correct that.

As someone else already mentioned, we recently launched a new website, complete with online ordering and payment processing. We also moved to a new hosting service for both our website and our email. In the process of doing so, we had some temporary problems with our email. Consequently, it seems there was a lot miscommunication resoving this issue. These problems, while temporary, are frustrating and regretful.

The transition to our new server is now complete, and our new email accounts are all functioning as they should. I have every reason to believe the problems we had during this transfer will not be problems going forward.

I encourage anyone who is having trouble reaching us to call our toll-free number, 800-535-1302. Our office is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm EST. I am frequently here much later than that, and I always answer the phone if I'm here, no matter what time of day or night.

Sincerely,

Ken Hutchinson

Today UPS delivered two replacements hoses (for the two hoses ordered R2 but were made w/R1 hose mentioned earlier in this thread) at no charge to me.

99% of the problem was miscommunication (for which I am at the very least partly to blame).

Ken Hutchinson went above and beyond making sure everything was made right and I can tell you quite honestly I would deal with them again.:)

MIKE
