Hydraulic SSQA idea

I plan to do a manual valve. I suppose I could do an electric one and mount the valve on the loader.

You don't need an electric to go on the loader.

You leave the diverter in the ssqa position and use your 3rd function to actuate the ssqa.

If you mount an implement such as a grapple, you would mount it, get off the tractor, hook up your hydraulics hoses, then switch the diverter to the quick couplers for the implement and leave it in that position until you are ready to remove it.

Then, you would disconnect the hoses, switch the diverter back to the ssqa, and detach the implement from the seat.

No need to get off to switch the diverter, unless you have to hook up hoses, which means you'll be off the tractor anyways.

Only reason to run a second set of lines to the front is if you want to be able to run 2 cylinders on an implement from the 3rd function from the seat.

I wonder how well those cheaper linear actuators hold up in that application.

And just an FYI, you only need 8in of stroke, the cylinder I used was a 1"x8"x0.625"

I’m not sure if I would want full hydraulic pressure available to the SSQA. My old New Holland skid steer used the back pressure from a return line and an electric valve to actuate the SSQA. My current JCB uses an electric linear actuator. Both limit the force applied. I am probably not the only guy to not have an implement perfectly seated before hitting the actuator, I bent the flange a bit. Easy fix, but if I had full power it would have been ugly. I stuck with the manual levers on my tractor.

I have been considering converting my SSQA on my Kubota to hydraulic. I have a true 3rd function operated off a Summit valve. I was thinking about using a manual splitter valve so that I switch a lever one way and it controls the SSQA cylinder, and then flip the other way and it's back to running my grapple. Anyone used one of these valves before?

The other option is an electric linear actutator. DIY MyWay did that on his tractor.

What about changing back and forth between buckets and forks and other inplements that have no hydraulics? I would rather be able to operate it from the seat otherwise I can just flip the levers if I am up front anyway...

You would leave the diverter valve set to the hydraulic SSQA (skid steer quick attach) and not on the 3rd function. You do not need a 3rd function for buckets or forks. The hydraulic SSQA would then function from the seat but 3rd function would not. If you need 3rd function then when you hook up the attachment hydraulic lines you switch the diverter valve. This eliminates having to run two sets (4 lines) down the loader arms.

You should never unhook an attachment from the tractor with the 3rd function hydraulic lines hooked up as you might rip them off. Having to get off the tractor to unhook the hydraulic lines means your right next to the diverter valve and you can switch it to hydraulic SSQA from 3rd function.

You would never need 3rd function until you hook up the attachments hydraulic lines. You have to get off the tractor to hook the hydraulic lines up, at that point you could switch the diverter valve from 3rd function to hydraulic SSQA.

If your moving from non hydraulic attachment to non hydraulic attachment your diverter on the loader is already set to hydraulic SSQA, otherwise you were unable to unattached the grapple. Since the diverter is already set to SSQA it can hook and unhook attachments from the seat, until you need to operate the 3rd function.
