Hydraulic Thumb For L39

Upon further inspection, here is what I found for attaching some kind of control petal or stick. I'd love to have a foot petal for the thumb.

Here is the interior view. You can see where the hole to the deck is in relation to where the extra spool is supposed to go (holes on the top to hold the valve in place).

I wonder what they had in mind for that hole with the little bolt holes. I think I'm off to the local dealer to find out. They just got their first L39, so they're not too familiar with them yet.

Setting my Mechanical thumb can be a real pain, and the fixed thumb limits your ability to maneuver and work.

Keep us posted, as it would be slick to have a hydraulic thumb!

I was going to ask if people had a major preference or not. Seems you answered my question without asking it. I know this topic has been gone over in detail, but it's always nice to hear it again.

So I just spoke with the local dealer and they were little to no help, aside from the fact that the side hole is definitely for foot petal. Apparently the L48 has the same setup. This is good. Now I just have to find the parts. Not sure if Kubota makes them yet. The dealer said "aftermarket" only. Not sure if they were too lazy or just didn't want to deal with me because I didn't buy the machine from them.

Good to know that there was thought put into the situation and they planned for it. Now I only need to find the parts.

Probably a lazy dealer. The valve that was in mine was a nabtesco. I searched high and low for spools for this valve. Nobody carried them. I was told in another thread they are built just for Kubota. Talk to another dealer. We ordered it as a replacement for a defective one but not under warrantee.

Typically foot pedals are for extend-a-hoe operation but it could have just been forsight for another use.

Is the hole lined up under where the would be thumb valve would go? If it is it would be fairly easy to fabricate a lever that would be foot controlled.

Try going to www.tractorsmart.com - request parts manuals for the L39 and L48 and see what you can get out of them. If you are lucky you might get the blowup for the backhoe assembly and have the pics showing the parts you are looking for.

Jim, our L-39 is in the shop this week and is having the three rear remotes installed on it as well as the front remote for operating a hydraulic grapple. I should have it back this weekend and will let you know what I find out when I talk to the mechanic about the hydraulic thumb.

I also have the parts catalog for the BL-1000 and the TL-1000 for the L-39 and will give it a gander.

Jim,

I have the L-39 parts catalog and there is nothing about the petal or the spare valve. I might get lucky and find something in the L48 manual. A service tech told me the L39 setup looks exactly like the L48 setup. That would be nice if the pedal is interchangeable.

Yes, the hole lines up perfectly under where the extra valve would attach into the bank of valves. We'll see what Sky's dealer comes up with soon.

When you added a valve to your bank, did you have to take apart the complete valve bank, or just remove the last in line and put antoher in? Can you give me some details on how that operation went......
