Hydraulic Thumb For L39

   / Hydraulic Thumb For L39 #31
I am supposed to get it back tomorrow (Friday 7/29), so will have some pics of the rear remotes and the front hydraulic installation this weekend hopefully.

They (the mechanic and salesmen) did say this was the first time they have installed or even seen this equipment on an L-39.... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif So I told them to be sure to give me the installation instructions so I can read them myself too.

Hey Jim, here is a place right near you in N.H. that offers hydraulic BH thumbs and also have a foot operated hydraulic valve to boot!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Check it out and give them a call.

Cool. Thanks for the link. I've been to that site before and was actually looking for that address the other day.

Ronnie from tractorsmart.com hooked me up with the correct kit number. It is not a series of parts you can buy.....kit only. The model number is BTB404 and the price is a hefty $1500 without installation. That sounds about right for anything from Kubota that's attachment related. It doesn't matter what it is, the price starts at $1000 and goes up from there.

Jim, so Ronnie gave you this as the part # for the OEM Kubota L48 BH hydraulic thumb kit, which I assume includes the hydraulic thumb, valves, foot pedal, and hoses for installation?

I would be interested in learning more about this kit.

I find it interesting that the rep mentioned that there is a "kit in the works" for the BX. I wonder if he was referring to the current generation tractor or the rumored next generation of BX. I seem to remember some postings about a next generation BX coming out next year. With the new JD 2210 replacement coming in August, and the possibility of a new BX coming out next year I am starting to get New-tractoritis. I have over 300 hours on my BX23 so something new to play with would be nice /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Can't say for sure but I remember the conversation going something like. Kubota realizes we all want and need the extra hydraulics on the BH and is working on a fix. For what ever that means.

Sky,

No, that is the actual hydraulic kit for the L39! The L48 kit and the L39 kit are not interchangeable, as it turn out.

Thanks Jim, I am going to have to talk to Ronnie about that! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Jim, I just got off the phone with the mechanic and have some good news.

All three rear remotes are active all the time, with the BH and with the 3pt hitch, so you can use them anytime. Which means one circuit could easily be utilized for operating the BH Thumb. The three rear remotes are hard plumbed into the main hydraulic pump but have three active disconnects whenever you wish to use them. No problem with the BH or 3 pt.

Also, I got the FEL additional hydraulic remote and it has an entirely new joystick an with electric solenoid activated button to ustilize the front hydraulic circuit which was plumbed into the FEL boom circuit. There is also another electric solenoid to turn the entire circuit on or off. This will work great for the FEL rake grappler!

I've got to take off from work to go meet them out at the farm gate so will try to take some pics this weekend and let you know how it all works.

Now all I need is that L-39 hydraulic thumb so will talk to Ronnie about that next week. I suppose I could weld it all on myself without much problem.
