Re: Hydraulic Tip \'N Tilt - OK, Top \'N Tilt

Bird, When you put air on the pressure port. With both valves in there center position. Did air exit the return line or power beyond port? When using the rear ports oil must return to the return port when the valves are in their center position. the oil would still have to go through quarter inch fittings. The hole on the return line going into the transmission is even smaller, about 3/16" or less. Hope this helps. Oil temperature should not rise just because you have this port hooked up.

Re: Hydraulic Tip \'N Tilt - OK, Top \'N Tilt

Ron, with both spools centered, I could blow air into the "in" port and it came out the "out" port. I didn't take the plug out of the power beyond port. In fact, I could blow air into the "out" port and it would come out the "in" port, so there's pretty free flow through the valve when neither spool is being used.

Ron, it's $83.40 plus tax for 5 gallons. Since the tractor's only supposed to hold 3.7 gallons, that ought to be enough to take care of cylinders, too./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Bird.
Bet you thought this item was not going to show up again./w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif I'm getting the last of the parts together for my TIP & Tilt. I tried Bailynet, they only sell wholesale at this time. I been looking around the Internet for awhile./w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif Finally found a place that has all the fittings and hoses. It's amazing what you can find on Yahoo shopping/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif Hydraulichosefittings.comThey have all the fittings and hoses needed to complete the install. I talked to the owner today. He is located in Dallas TX. Going to get my order off to him before tomorrow morning./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Re: Hydraulic Tip \'N Tilt - OK, Top \'N Tilt

Ron, that may be a good place to buy hoses and fittings if you know what you need. But in my case, I wasn't sure what they called all the different fittings, so I took the valve, cylinders, and outlet block to the dealer so I could just show them to him and say, "I need sumpthin' to git from here to here."/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

I was slow, made too many trips to town, spent too much money, etc., but think I'm all through now. If I'm not, I'll always think I should have been./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif The only other modification I plan to do is drill a couple of holes in the bucket to mount the toothbar when it gets here. Oh, and I might build a tool box or two like LarryT's if I run across some ammo boxes.

Re: Hydraulic Tip \'N Tilt - OK, Top \'N Tilt

Bird,
Let me see if I can confuse things a little more. One of my 3010s has a
FEL and a hydraulic top link, plumbed together. At 2000 RPMs with a pressure
gauge in line from the out on the tractor reads about 400 psi not working
anything. That bothered me at first, so I unhooked the FEL, it went down to
200 PSI. Hooked the FEL back up, unhooked the top link, 200 PSI. So the more
valves and/or hoses do make a difference. I would think also, make more heat.
If your Tip 'N Tilt valve has a pressure relief valve, I think it needs another
hose for return to tank. If your valve is like mine, the outlet would become
return to tank, the pb port would become the outlet.
Both valves I have can use any of 3 different plugs. One for open center,
closed center, and power beyond.
I think I would make sure your valve is hooked up correctly and not chance
hurting the hydraulic pump.

Re: Hydraulic Tip \'N Tilt - OK, Top \'N Tilt

Could the pump be harmed if the valves were plumbed wrong? The way I'm thinking of it, right now, is that if the valves were plumbed wrong then, in the worst case, wouldn't the pump see maximum system pressure? At that point, wouldn't it be the same as not having the FEL hoses connected to the valve? If the FEL is removed from the tractor, then all the hoses are closed. Isn't that the same as having a supply hose connected to a closed center valve?

I'm not trying to present an opinion here, just a question. I'm really hoping that Tim Alderman, Steve Carver or Kubotamech will be able to respond to some of these questions. This whole thing has me turned around. When I was designing hydraulic circuits 15 years ago, none of the machine hydraulics was as confusing as this stuff. Even the loader and backhoe I did were simple.

Oh let there be light somewhere in this tunnel...

is that a horn i hear?

Re: Hydraulic Tip \'N Tilt - OK, Top \'N Tilt

Gerald, I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. How was the FEL and top link "plumbed together"? Just where in the line did you put the pressure gauge? When you "unhooked the FEL", do you mean you bypassed it and it's control valve, or just that you unhooked quick couplers? Of course, my FEL is plumbed as you say, with the power beyond being the return line, and the "outlet" being returned to tank. The tip 'n tilt valve has the power beyond port plugged and isn't being used, although the Tisco guy mentioned plumbing it the same way. Why do some valves need the 3 hoses and some only two?

Re: Hydraulic Tip \'N Tilt - OK, Top \'N Tilt

Bird,
"Plumbed Together" may not have been the best choise of words. The inlet
on my T 'N T valve comes from the PB on the FEL valve, the T 'N T PB goes
back to the return on the tractor. The pressure gauge was connected with a
T to the "from pump","pressure" on the tractor.
I think the valves are made so they can be used in many different applications,
open center, closed center, power beyond. Our tractors are open center, you use
the power beyond plug if the valve has a pressure relief valve or is not the last
valve in the line. I don't think you connected yours last on the line. I think the
3 ph comes after your T 'N T connection. Try moving the T 'N T and lifting the
3 ph at same time. If the 3 ph doesn't move the T 'N T valve is before it.
Also, if your T 'N T valve has a pressure relief you need a 3 rd hose.
By the way the hose that goes to the left side of your tractor is "back to tank"
if it is the same as a B2910.
