HydrauLink- a self-contained air over hydraulic top link

/ HydrauLink- a self-contained air over hydraulic top link #281
I know, I have just watched this advertizer get abused ever since he first started advertizing here, and he has taken much abuse, why for simply trying to sell what he feels is a better idea than a screw third link, maybe it isnt an end all to that issue, but in my humble opinion it has a place in the market.

Possibly he may have faired better if he had chosen a few better words on his advertizing, but again in my humble opinion, I do not think he was selling snake oil in his adversizing.

:confused2:

If I remember correctly, I believe that a big part of their original problem was that they pushed their product as if it was an alternative of equal or even better that a standard hydraulic top link. IT IS NOT. Other than that, I too believe that there are people and circumstances where it may very well be a good alternative to the std screw type top link and that is how many see how it should have been marketed.

JMHO ;)

In the recent past, just because he did not include an option (that he had to pay to have engineered and sourced [a longer screw  ...:(] ) within his standard price structure, he had to take more abuse from someone.
I do not think it was realistic to think that he should supply this part within his standard price structure, after all, when ever you upgrade anything you have to pay an upcharge, the responding poster could have been polite in his statement that he did not want to pay more, but instead he had to be rude to the advertizer.

:confused2:
:confused3:You can choose to view it that way, but it is a fact that what has happened is that Hydraulink has taken a solution [sketched months ago in this thread] that could have been made inclusive for everyone in just one part and instead has chosen to make an additional part that must be bought at extra cost. The answer is just so simple. The only drawback is that Hydraulink wouldnt get to charge some people for 2 parts.

Maybe they could offer it with either screw end so people needing the longer adjuster could buy that unit instead? I am still considering one of these tls, so this thread hasn't been all bad for the advertiser!

I wouldnt think the seperate screw end would be all that much extra anyways. So having both for future use wouldnt be much of a bad thng.As long as the company doenst exploit the special pricing.

Seems like the product is only good for people that are avoiding installing rear remotes for some rea$on. Couldn't you put a line with a valve connecting the two ends of a real hydraulic top link, and have the same thing untill you get the remotes?
(I'm getting senile, I don't remember if I said that already.)

This site is very good for this product. A little time, and effort to keep the debate going ( good, and bad,) and the hydraulink keeps popping up from time to time. Even though I am going to go to a full hydraulic top link, I had considered this as an option. The only reason I am not doing it is I am getting a dedicated Back hoe, and will be able to keep the three point arms on the the tractor for good. So for me I will spend the extra for a full hydraulic three point system.

I think it is just human nature to think we have a better idea when we think up that new idea

I do not remember if he ever mentioned that it was better than a full hydraulic top link, from what I remember I thought he offered it as an
"alternative for someone who did not have all the hydraulics" but I surely could be wrong

My main point is that if you cannot treat someone politely, then it is better to keep quiet.

Also do not forget all of those older tractors that it is difficult to imposible to put hydraulics on, like the good ole 8N

The issue [I think] is that they want to keep it a single product and [so] sell an accessory end. The thing is they could just do away with the short screw and sell them all with the long screw end and let users cut a little off if they need to. That way just a dollars worth of extra screw would let everybody tune the setup to their application ... and theyd be able to keep it just one std product. A  + in my book.

And how much time, hacksaw blades, grinding wheels etc. do you think it would take to "let users take a little off" of a hardened steel threaded rod? And did I mention that it is threaded.....what if, in the cutting off process you messed up the threads adding more aggrevation to the "custom" process. Unless you have your own machine shop I think paying for an "extra" set of longer threaded rods is reasonable.
BTW, I plan on getting one of these but I DO have the "quick hitch" and need about 31-33" of length. Guess I have a few more weeks to wait.
To the HYDRAULINK rep......my admiration to your poise and restraint.
