Whenever I see a roadside fireworks stand I think of the fireworks scene from the movie "Joe Dirt."

That would be 4 generations of my family  Last time we picked some up, we had 4 generations out there setting off mortars in the back yard :D We are considerate about it and invite the neighbors over for the show.

Years ago we got into a contest at my buddies father in laws lake house. Competition was with a house across the bay for the rest of the losers booze :D We set off our grand finale, which was decent we thought. Well the people across the lake stomped us into the pavement with there's  We scrounged and all we could find was a little bottle rocket left. So we touched it off not wanting to admit defeat. That little bottle rocket flew into a really dry pine tree, and before it popped, it managed to catch the tree on fire

Anyway, picture a pine tree tossed into a burn pile. The tree went up almost as fast. Sent us scrambling for the garden hoses to keep everything else from going up.

A couple minutes after the tree was put out, we hear a boat fire up, and the house across the lake sends over a couple cases of beer :cool2: They were afraid that we were gonna torch the camp, rather then admit defeat :confused2:

It is not like they are real college grads

The 2nd one didn't have to graduate.... he got into the NFL before his senior year, is a two time pro bowl player and has a super bowl ring. His first contract was for 5 years and 20 million. His 2nd contract was for 4 years and 60 million, with 40 million guaranteed..... why the heck would anyone in their right mind turn down that kind of money for a college degree???

Only 2 states in Australia allow fireworks due to the fire risk. Northern territory and the ACT I think. They had a fireworks day in Darwin a couple of weeks ago and the firies were kept busy with literally hundreds of fires.
One silly clown tried to show off to his mates and stuck a cracker up his bum and finished up in hospital. Can you imagine the stupidity?

I must admit. I love fireworks. The grandkids are just now old enough to not be scared. I have racks of ten mortars that I nail into a fan shape and tie each with a chain of mid speed canon fuse. You should see what I can do with coffee creamer or milk replacement powder!

Saw a Youtube video of a failed rocket launch using the same method, I suspect alcohol and clenching caused the burns as the rocket ignited but didn't release.

I still remember the local fireworks display one particular year. For whatever reason the two local towns - Omak. WA & Okanogan, WA - decided to have the big display at the fair grounds in Okanogan, that year.

The military was represented at this gala event by the Army reserve unit. Half way thru the show - they announced that the reserve unit would - "now be shooting their M2(Ma duce) - with tracers.

Wholly S H I T - - the M2 cut loose and lit up the entire fairground arena and the hillside some half mile away that they choose to use as a backstop.

Unfortunately - the tracers lit up the bunch grass & sage brush on the hillside. It would have been at least 15 to 20 minutes for the local volunteer fire department to show up and things would have certainly been way out of hand - brush fire wise - by that time.

The announcer then stated - "Folks, please remain seated and continue to watch the display".

The Ma duce was then switched over to "non-tracer" ammo and LITERALLY ripped the hillside to shreds with its live-fire. The brush fire did not stand a chance. It was torn to shreds and extinguished with a steady 15 second burst of fire.

It was both exciting and frightening at the same time. The audience was thrilled by the short bursts of tracer fire. They were shocked and terrified by the steady 15 second burst used to extinguish the fire. I do not think many folks had ever experienced that type of situation and at such close range. There were actually children screaming and crying in the stands.

This entire situation is etched into my memory as clearly as if it happened yesterday. This type of display never happened again.

And why would anyone making that kind of money risk his hands playing with fireworks?

Maybe he should have attended a few classes..... :)

Think how those unfortunate enough to be on the receiving end feel. Go Army!!!
