Go to Rubbercal and buy a 1" x 6" x 60" Edge for under $100. It will last you years on asphalt. It did for me.

Why not just buy a rear blade?

Haven't really considered it. Seems like a pain to have to turn your neck around. Also we can get some big snowfall, I cant picture it handling the deep stuff that well. Also since Im clearing a large driveway packing the snow first before you plow it doesnt seem like a good idea to me.

If you are worried about packing snow, make your first pass with the bucket down. Angle the rear blade, and pull it down the driveway, No need to look back all that much. It is a cheap implement and will clean up the snow on the pavement nicely/ without damage. Just make sure it is wide enough to extend past your rear wheels when angled.

I do my mile long driveway with a rear blade. Deepest snow I've plowed is 1.5 feet. Your tires will not pack the snow to the point that a rear blade isn't effective.

Especially on an asphalt driveway - once you get the blade angled and offset - you shouldn't have to look back until you are at the end.

Deep snow is fun with a rear blade Go like the wind( 5mph) and watch it curl completely off the driveway.

Rear blade is very effective, and you don't look backward (unless you want to). I clear a 1/8 mile drive with rear blade and it really works well, and I know many other folks on TBN use one for snow removal too.

As far as snow depth, keep in mind it's a BX, so you need to stay on top of snow removal no matter what method you use. If you wait until the end of the storm when there are 24-36" on the ground, it won't matter what type of implement you use on a BX, it's going to suck and you'll be out there forever and make a mess in the process. So get out there and clear every 8-10" of snow regardless, and you'll do a whole lot better.

I just did my driveway last night with my rear blade, was no time at all and the only reason I turned around was backing up, for the money you can't beat a rear blade.

Yes a blower or front mounted blade would be much better but your also paying thousands for one, for as much as I have my rear blade works great, my drive is concrete, 40 yards with a turn around, 100 yards of gravel to the barn, I was done in 15 mins last night and that includes playing with the angle of the blade 4 times and the height of the rear blade on the gravel and edges of the driveway so it didn't dig.

First time clearing snow since I bought the tractor. Next time it won't even be that much. I may add a strip of rubber to the cutting edge, haven't made up my mind yet.

We had 5-6 inches of heavy snow.

You had more snow than us up north. I didn't think they were calling for snow down there and 5" at that.
