No need for apologies, I'm a big boy and can fess up to my own mistakes. It might be a few months before I get it right but I will keep the interested informed.

Time for an update. The JD developed a hydraulic leak at the remote valve blocks and as I don't have a shop and the weather was below zero attempting to fix it myself was out of the question. So off to the dealer it went and three days and $872 later I had it back all fixed including the 3 Pth. six hours labor to get to two o- rings costing $6.00. My only complaint is whatever they put in for fuel after remounting the tank was not winter grade and at -14F this morning I'm all jelled up. I'm off now for some kerosene and another fuel filter.

I'd be asking the Deere dealer just exactly what they did put in for fuel... as it just may not be what it appears to be. Just sayin.... so you don't go off on a tangent thinking it is gelled fuel.

Don't give your location so can't comment on why you think the fuel is gelled.

At -14°F is location important? id guess the simplest explanation is probably the best in this case

My byname is "Vermont snowed in". Pretty much says where I am and it was -14F this morning and has come all the way up to +10 this afternoon with a brisk wind that cuts like a razor. But I know the drill and have it started now. Amazing what three gallons of kerosene will do for a fuel system.

Not to me... but these days that can often mean the phony chill factor that is espoused by the weather people and the hyped media.
And the fuel could care less if there is a chill factor or not. ;)

It is just helpful to have the location.. be it this country or maybe even another.

Actually a running tractor is effected by wind chill. The air going by strips the heat out of the exposed fuel lines and any moisture or wax goes solid that much faster.

You could always put power service 911 in your filter and screw n it on and same with the tank and it would do the same as kerosene and maybe faster.

I've tried both white and red and they have never worked for me by themselves. The kerosene is $1.50 a gallon more then diesel so for the price of a bottle of 911 I can have four gallons of kerosene and treat twenty gallons of diesel.
