Wire wheel/sane as needed. then buy a POR15 starter kit, which comes with everything you need to prep and coat that valve, and a lot more.

If you don't know about POR15, it is a 2 part coating that when cures, will never crack, chip or peel, and the more moist the environment (just humidity), the better. You can buy it in only a few colors, but it can be painted once cured, if you want something other then what is available.

Just to echo that.
I first tried POR15 about 20 years ago.
At the time I had a rim that was rusty. I took some POR15 and painted only half the rim.
Here we are some 20 years later and that rim has NO rust where I painted. It sat outside in the weather the whole time too.

Yes, I first found out about it in June of 2000. I had a 29' twin inboard off-shore fishing boat, which had (saltwater) lubricated cutlass bearing on the shafts. Salt water sprayed over the engine and gear mounts constantly, and keeping them from rusting was nearly impossible. That is, until I cleaned and coated them with POR15.

I had and ran that boat offshore for many years, and when I sold her, those mounts, and everything else that I coated with POR15, still looked brand new.

I think these concerns are partially why I am going to order the snowblower through my local MF dealer. They are close so hopefully any "break in" issues I encounter they can help me fix without too much pain. But for the snowblower I figure if anyone knows whats an appropriate size for the 4707 it should be them.



Do you do this in order to reduce your ground speed? I'm imagining that the snowblower starts to plow snow if you're moving too fast for it to process and could potentially be bad for the unit unless you slow down and let it catch back up. Do you know what transmission you have?

As mentioned creeper is everything in a gear driven tractor. You need to go really slow when blowing big drifts.

Never get a 8 speed in a machine like this unless all you are doing is mowing fields.

Overall, nice purchase. Lots of happy 4707 owners out there. Thats alot of tractor to start with, but for 30 acres it will be A fine choice. About the only downside will be maneuverability in and around buildings/trees etc with snow removal. If you dont have much in the way it will be easy.

Edit, here is a close up of the remote. It feels like they just took something off another tractor - the handle in the cab is different as well. If this is normal then whatever, but I'm not going to pay for an upgrade I didnt get (3rd remote)

Looks like it wasn't painted and whatever they had on it to prevent rust until it was is gone.

Hit it with Ospho convertor and paint it. You can wire brush it first if you want.

They sure can keep a lot of snow out of a drive
way! Some times it takes two rows but it works.

For sure, I feel like a fish out of water. I am going to make sure to get seat time every day even if just driving around the pasture, I hopefully will be getting my forks tomorrow and that should help me start popping rocks out of the pasture.

I moved a couple rocks out of the yard today, made a few ruts by accident. Failed to move a larger boulder I'll try again with the forks. I imagine with more seat time I won't feel so out of place.

That would not sit well with me either.

Yeah, you would think they would paint it or something - IDK it just feels really cheap to charge 1500 for a remote and its completely surface rusted when it arrives hah. I'm going to be using that POR-15 product people have mentioned.

Yeah some people do. The previous owner failed to mention that I should put some up until after I mentioned that the driveway was completely impassable and asking for snow advice.

The non-painted remote is one thing, but the mis-matched lever in the cab...I'd tell them to order me the correct lever for that year and model.
Pay $60,000 for that. Kind of like ordering your new Super Duty pickup and they put a bumper on from 150.

POR 15 requires a top coat of paint if exposed to sunlight.
It can do all of those things you mention it cannot do if not top coated
When it originally came out, it was sold as a single coat solution. Then the stuff started to chip, peel and disintegrate.
It then became a "two coat" solution as a result.
Its great stuff otherwise.
