I don't have the BX24 - JD2305 answer

The deal is done, now the waiting begins.

I bought a MF2310 this morning - and it will be delivered Thursday AM. I did sit on the seat, swivel it around, and check out the hydraulics at the full range of speeds from idle upwards.

I like the all metal construction, quiet operation, single rocker pedal, and the color.

Plus they tossed in a thumb, bucket hook, and a hat. How could I say no? The terms were pretty nice, too.

Unless we move to a different house, or I want to see the tractor roll over, I won't be mowing the lawn - and didn't buy an MMM. I'm hoping that a neighbor of mine will buy a digger hook so that someone with a backhoe will be able to help him clear some stumps.

At some point in the next several months I'll add some extra lights, but for now I'll just have fun with it during daylight hours.

The information from TBN has been very helpful. Without it I may never have ventured far enough to check out an MF, but I'm sure glad I did!

Yeah, but I'm hoping they will tolerate a bit of red amidst the sea of orange. Fortunately, this will be kept in the garage (the car moves to the driveway in ~ 60 hours) and we have a lot of trees that block our view from the road and others.

Hey congrats on the purchase I am actually in the same boat, but will most likely will be purchasing the BX on monday and I am very curious about that ripper tooth. Are they a pain to switch back and forth from the tooth to the bucket?

Don't know about the changeover part, but I think I'm going to hold off on the Ripper for a bit. I like the idea, and am very impressed with the thumb (and its rugged design), but now that I have a couple weeks of backhoe practice, I have been able to get most stumps out with the backhoe. Some very easy, others need a bit of encouragement.

Most of what I need to clear are smaller stumps - so until I get to larger stuff or stubborn roots, I'm going to take a wait and see on the Ripper.

I do have to say that Richard at Bro-Tek has been awesome in responding to any questions I have had - I highly recommend him and their thumb.

Good luck with your decision. I really like the BX24, but in the past couple of weeks have grown very fond of red ....

I've seen big excavators use the ripper tooth to break up frozen ground in the winter. Good Luck with the GC2310,I traded mine in for a 1531,my 2310 had over five hundred hours on it ,it was an 06. My wife would use it for 10 hours a day besides using it for work. Only thing I had to have changed was the pivot bolt on front axle,if they get sloppy they can leak around the seals. Also keep the front axle clean at the upper king pins, debris can get in there and wear on the seal. On larger stumps the weight of the 2310 can cause it to move around ,I had to spend time digging around and breaking the roots. It was a good machine for yard use, small jobs between fences, buildings. I didn't try it but I have seen a friend put dirt in his front bucket for ballast while lifting heavier objects with his hoe. plowking

When it gets to that point, I'm hoping to be inside with a fire in the wood stove and admire all the work that I got done before the ground froze.

So far, I really like our 2310 - but then again, I only have about 12 hours on it so far. This thing called 'job' (and some lousy weather) has been interfering with my available tractor time.

Recieved the BX the other day and i am loving it. I too am going to hold off on the ripper because so far stumps have been a peice of cake. I havent even used the backhoe yet on them. Been able to pop them with just pushing them with the fel. These only been up to 7" so far though. The bigger ones i will have to use the hoe, plus i need the experience and seat time too...

From your post sounds like you have the brotek Thumb? I am looking into it, but the design is so simple that i am too cheap to pay that much for something that i can just make my own. But i am really impatient and not sure i can hold off til i make one.

Congrats on the BX, I'm sure you'll have lots of fun, er, I mean do lots of work for years to come.

I do have the Bro-Tek thumb and like it a lot. It is a simple design, but since I don't have a cutter, welder, or a drill that would cut a piece of steel that size, it's a lot more than I could make.

It's hard to say what it really cost me, since it was one of those bargaining points when I was negotiating price with the dealer. I will say that I use it a lot more than I initially anticipated, and every time I'm on the tractor, I'm thankful that I heard about it from others on TBN and that it is now part of my new toy, er, work tool.
