I dont know what to do.

First I'd like to commend the OP, if he's 14 or 16, he's taken the initiative to get a summer job and is working. Congrats we need kids like this for our future.

I think you're grandfather offers some good advice. The only real thing you'll miss out on is improving your welding skills. Some a lot of here would love to have. Remember YOUR time is worth something also.

Jacob, I agree with others as well. Your granddad is giving some good advice and others here have spelled out some good pros and cons to doing both. A lot of the welding skills that you'd gain by building the FEL for your Yanmar can be gained by building tooth bars, grapples, man lifts, etc. for your new tractors's FEL. I think you'll find that as you may miss your first tractor you'll soon find that the added ability of the newer 30hp/FEL tractor will become your newest, favorite tractor. Kind of like my first truck, your Yanmar will always be in your memories. I congratulate you, as well as your folks, for raising a fine young man. A lot of what kids do nowadays doesn't apply to their future much but what you've got going on will. Keep up the good work and and big  to your folks!

I guess I better work hard to get the $$$$ for the bigger tractor. I sure will miss that Yannie!:(

I too think the 30hp tractor would be a good fit. However, is there anyway you can keep the Yanmar.??

I assume that it is your first tractor.?? As much as you love and respect your equipment....I would like to see you keep the Yanmar.

I'm sure your Grandpa knows best  and you have come to enjoy your Yanmar, wy not get another Larger YM? I'm not advertising this tractor But I happen to see it on the CL this morning and noticed it being just the 30 HP rating you are talking about needing,;) I'll post the picture But if interested you can find it in the Atlanta CL under Farming for more info,
I sure wish I could afford this one. I think would be all around perfect size and HP for any needs.
Good Luck with what ever tractor you decide upon...............

Let Ernie know that you are looking for a tractor and what you are looking for in that tractor. Tell him your circumstances, I think that he will be able to help you out. Might even be able to work out some sort of trade and cash deal. It's one of those things, you won't know without asking. ;)

Good luck

Jacob, we'll all be waiting to see your new toy...err... tractor:ashamed:. Yeah, talk to Ernie, He's a good guy, he's local, and he's a member here:thumbsup:. I'm glad you decided on a larger tractor. From what I see, you're in this for the long haul, not just a passing interest. Good for you. I think I know how you feel about giving up your Yannie. I still have my first tractor in the barn with the others. Well, I guess you can call it a tractor. It's a 1972 Montgomery-Ward 15hp, with a 40" PTO tiller and a 42" rear blade. Hasn't been run in about 10 years, but I still keep it to look at:confused:. Maybe you'll figure out a way to keep yours too. Sounds like you need to build a barn to keep your "fleet" in soon. Your mom probably won't take too kindly to leaving her car out so you can fill the garage with tractors. My big project for this summer is to build a pole barn/shop a little closer to the house. I'm gettin' old and that 250 yard hike up the hill kinda sucks when it rains, which is often here on the wet coast. Good luck with the Simplicity. Hope you get it going easily. Keep us informed.....Dan.

We discovered that the only think wrong with the simplicity was its fuel pump so we brought it to Metro NewHolland to get it fixed. Its waiting with a long line of equippment waiting for repairs. I wish there was a way i could keep my Yanmar but it doesnt look like a possibility. I will have the yannie around till summer ends since i need the money from working to help pay for a bigger tractor. I love the yanmar but i know that i will also love a bigger tractor. Ive been into tractors for longer than i can remember and learn new things about them any time im around them. Who you gonna have build that pole barn. Cause my grandpa, uncles, and I build barns.
