I have the same setup on my CK2510. The bolt on the end is a safety and needs to be removed so you can slide the rod to disconnect the two pedals. I did this when my machine was new. Your bolt might be seized/rusted in place. Once the bolt is removed from the end of the rod he rod rotates and slides to disconnect the pedals.

What is the purpose of the roll pin #36? what does it have to do with the sheet metal bracket and its slot on the right brake pedal, not shown in the diagram but shown on your photo's. Can you take a photo of the back side of the right pedal and underneath the right pedal.. I cannot make out much depth due to the fact the photo's are blurry. At this time I cannot see how this was designed to work. So if you are an idiot, than I am one too!. :)

I need more photo's

Ok, what keeps the rod from falling out.. does the bracket on the right retain it in some way? I can't tell from the photo's

I have the same on my ck30,,,the roll pin stops rod from completely falling out . It follows a slot in a bracket to hold in single pedal or double pedal position.. the bolt at the end is supposed to be removed to allow single pedal use

My 2013 Ck35 hst has the set up shown in the second pic posted by deerhead. Bolt #35 has a washer between the head and the left brake and is screwed into pin #37. Washer not shown in schematic. I have not tried to use my brakes split yet, but i think buggs is right the washer needs to be removed. The bolt head is small enough to fit through the hole in the brake so put it back together without the washer.
Buggs does your brake pin move from where you set it while driving? The only thing I see holding the roll pin in the notch is the weight of the leg on the brake pin . It should hang down.
I might try to take the washer off of mine tomorrow. Hope I have a big enough pair of vice grips.

Yes, there is a little pin that sticks out from the rod that goes into the slot on the plate. This prevents the rod from sliding out of the brakes completely when the washer is removed. Unfortunately, this pin is missing from my setup for whatever reason. It shouldn't be a problem because I really don't plan to split the brakes much, if at all. I just want to be able to do it.

Sorry about the pics. The light in the barn stinks, and I'm a complete newbie to cameras, I'll see about more pics. I tried from the back, but couldn't get it to focus right.

Looks to me like you'd hold the "L" shaped end of the rod with a large water pump plier and put an impact wrench/socket to the bolt?????

Thanks for the educational picture. I never considered putting a dishrag down ahead of time so the blood from the operation doesn't stain the floor mat. You're a thinking man!

👍
Agree. Put a wrench on part 37 and turn. If this fails, get a bigger wrench.
I think you also mentioned you need the roll pin that inserts into the sliding bolt and tracks in the metal bracket that locks it into 1 of 2 positions. These are available at any hardware. Grab a handful of various sizes.

It looks to me like you could just cut the end off where it tapers to the threaded nut. It serves no purpose when it has the rolled pin in place.
For me, I always leave mine split like they are supposed to be for using the tractor. Locking is supposed to be for highway use but really unless you have an extremely small foot, just pressing in the middle of both pedals will lock both brakes.
I use my steering brakes to control skid when back dragging or blading forward. Any high side will cause the tractor to ride to that direction so correctly applied force to the opposite side brake keeps you going straight. Steering brakes are also handy to turn the tractor sharper when needed to avoid an obstacle where you might have to stop, reverse and continue to go forward because your wheels didn't turn sharp enough or they are sliding in mud.

If you are going to use a tractor, learn how to use the steering brakes, that is why they have two pedals.
