Hello Fred,
I put in a new element and used the new cord as well that came with the kit. I was pretty convinced based upon the continuity checks that the cord was good but element bad. In retrospect, I suppose I should have plugged in the new cord to the old element just to see if it was the cord. Oh well, too late for that. If this lasts the rest of my lifetime I'll be quite happy and hopefully one of my boys or grandkids would want it.

At Local truck dealership were I buy most of my semi parts , I can get either the electrical cord , the element or Both in a kit . 9 times out of 10 , the kit is cheaper than buying one , then the other . So I usually just get the kit and replace both at one time .

This always amazes me. It is true of lots of stuff though.
