Speaking of grease guns... I always wanted one of these:

I was in the Army mid 80's and we retired our M60A3 tanks for Abrams in 1984. The M60A3 driver was issued an M3 as it was one of the few weapons that would fit in the driver's compartment.

Not only did we have the more-common M3A1 (which was cocked via a depression in the bolt) we also had a few M3's, which had a external cocking handle. Other than an armorer putting a round into the roof of the arms room, I'm not sure anyone fired one. We were also still carrying M1911A1's.

All our equipment was in the books with an asset value. The M3 asset value was a little over $3.

I will take either the A1 or the older M3!.. As for 1911's I have had several and still have some..

I know the old "grease gun" is just a sheet metal stamped out mass produced thing with most of its parts made by the guide lamp division of GM, and certainly no finely designed and machined hand made weapon, but I would still like to have one for historic value if nothing else.

The Thompson sub machine gun was carried by US paratroopers throughout the war. If they only knew what they'd be worth now!

Even the Reising (USMC) has collector value! At Ranger School I briefly carried an M14 and had a chance to fire it full auto during training.

Long range I preferred the M14. Close quarters I preferred the M16. Most of the time in Vietnam I also carried a .45. Tends to give the enemy pause when that slug comes lumbering by.

Nothing like a 230 grain chunk of metal to get someones attention.:)

Not sure if separation and quality go hand in hand. Some of the better grease I use IMO, Mobil shc 32 and shc460 are the worst at separation.

It is the ability to separate is what enables the grease to be a lubricant. Or to put it another way, grease is not a lubricant, the oil in it is!

All I have to say is that I greased the loader again today, and it takes far longer to clean the grease Zerks prior to greasing than it does to grease the Zerks with my Lock N Lube coupler. The thing just takes the "hassle" out of greasing. I know I sound like I have a stake in the company.. I wish. They dang things is expensive. But it works. And you can't say that about every high priced thing you buy.
