What about requiring people to "register" to get access? Does this make it "not publicly available"?

Agco does this for massey ferguson.

Kubota is moving off of my short list for my next tractor. Every time I've complained through the web site that corporate doesn't make information available they give my dealer grief. My dealer would give me the information if corporate would give it to them!

I worked with a company that had a partner in Japan that was the same way. We had to reinvent all of the documentation to support folks here in the U.S. because the folks in Japan just didn't understand that we fix our own stuff!

Kubota makes good tractors, but their not that good.

I'm still trying to figure the rationale....

Is it being shutdown because of the ability to order parts online? Not sure that alone is of any real impact to other dealers

Or because it makes it easier for owners to do their own service? This would impact dealers, including Messicks

For me, Messicks was providing a service on behalf of Kubota AND my dealer. I would look up the parts, then call/visit my dealer to order/pickup. My dealer is great, and prices are comparable. If the Kubota site had the catalogs published, like JD, it would provide the same benefit to all dealers. Messicks is footing the cost of hosting the resource, but I am buying local.

So either Kubota wants their customers ignorant and completely dependent on the local dealer, or doesn't want Messicks to be a one-stop shop for their brand. Or both.

I notice a similar situation with auto manufacturers. Ford has OEM parts lookup, and some dealers sell online. For Dodge, it is non-existent

Not sure this would force me away from Kubota - but will definately factor into my next purchase decision I think....

I have been buying orange because I love the tractor, but when they won't provide a contact for e-mail users, and madate I buy a parts catalog to find parts, then I am out of here.

See you guys on the green side of the fence.

JohnC

You may see some of the others on the green side but not me. I chose the Orange side because they were $3000 less than Green and $2500 less than Blue. I didn't choose them because of an online catalog. I've stayed with them because of their great tractors (not perfect) and my local dealer. If Kubota closes then Green and Blue will go even higher. I've never used the online catalog so it doesn't mean much to me. If and when I do decide I need it, I'll complain with the rest of you whiners.:D If you feel it's corporate then email corporate with your complaints. Email addresses were provided. I see alot of speculations as to the reason and then I see acceptance that the speculation is being accepted as gospel. Maybe Messicks will provide their speculation as to why instead of running in and yelling "fire" then taking off. In fact, if so many of you are leaving the Orange fold I may go buy a BX25 today to help make up for the loss of business so Kubota can continue operating and support "through dealers" my currently owned Kubotas.:):) Who'll trade me a new/near new BX25 for a 40 hour B3200?

That is very dissapointing to hear about messecks. I was looking between JD, NH,and kubota, I really was torn more between JD and Kubota, they both have their good and bad points. The kubota was a better for me and my needs in more ways, but I gatta tell you I was rooting for JD, mostly because I have used my JD dealer for 10 years and really loved them. when they moved I went farther to deal with them. They were so helpful they understood that people like me need to keep working and may not be able to trailer their machines in ,they allways talked me through fixing my own stuff. I still go there for my STIHL Chain saw needs, even though my closer Kubota dealer sells STIHL too. I too have found the Kubota dealers near me keeping info close, I really have to needle them for any help. I had to really work them over to get the parts info for my fuel tank repair kit on my BX, they only gave me short answers and would not elaborate, god for bid I use a wrong technical term, no one was going to offer up the right one to make it any easier.
Anyway that there would be a totally separate thred customer service.........

Shame on Kubota....I hope they realize before they have too many dissapointed owners.......

Well, I "crossed over to the green side" once and sure don't think I will do that again. Some of this reminds me of cutting off your nose, well you know the rest. If a JD or NH will work as well for you, I can understand, but I am not going to have to live with something I don't like due to a complaint like this.

A few years ago Husquarna directed all of it's dealers to not publish prices on the internet. So if you wanted to know a price on a particular saw you had to call the dealer for that price. Pain in the backside, but it was an attempt to protect their authorized dealers. It doesn't work but those that are not servicing their customers gained from the clamp down.

( Disclaimer: This is what I was told from the people I purchased my 455e from so it is only one dealer telling me this, might be true or maybe not!)

I would suggest if you have a Kubota tractor that you locate the parts list manual and keep it close at hand. Then you can always either email or call (toll free number) the service department with the number for the part you are looking for. I would think there would be nothing wrong with that practice.

I have purchased from them in the past and will continue doing so!

I'm still trying to figure the rationale....

It could be a third party issue. Many manufacturers sell the rights to publish and distribute their parts and maintenance catalogs/books to a third party. If any of you have purchased Kubota's hardcopy parts and maintenance books, you know they're not inexpensive.

If Messick Farm Equipment publishes the Kubota parts manual online, assuming the above is true, then it would violate the exclusivity rights of the third party publisher.

I for one can not see the big deal in this!! I can't believe the guys on here that are cry babies. You spend any where from $8,000 to $40,000 for a new kubota tractor and you won't buy a ( I.P.C )parts book or maintenance manual
I buy a I.P.C and a Maintenance Repair manual when I buy the tractor you are talking about 300 bucks for both. You can throw this in the purchase of the tractor. Just my opinion. But I fail to see the Big deal with this and I will continue to buy Kubota.:)
