I hate the 3 Pt Hitch

The only thing about what you are wishing for is that with only about a third of what you would like would drive the cost of a tractor or for that matter any unit into the unobtainable range for most. I can't even begin to justify my B7500. I just like having it. You can't legislate safty. If someone won't look out for themself they will pay no attention to laws, gauges, or instructions. I work alone most all of the time. Anything bigger, tougher, meaner than me I watch out for it not vice versa. I have seen OSHA come into a business and set up such unobtainable restrictions that you couldn't do the job. This was all in the name of safty.

Yes, I do inch the tractor by hand while standing on the ground. Perhaps one of those things that will drive the safety freaks nuts, but guess who else used to do the same thing, Bird.

I feel very safe in doing it, actually about a 1000 times safer then driving on the road in a vehicle. Rat...

Rat, Your not alone! I do the same thing just about every time I have to hook something up to the 3pt. hitch!

I do it too. But I also find it just as easy to put the tractor in neutral and roll it forward or backward by hand-turning the rear wheels.

I checked out the Power-Trac an it looks like a very handy little machine.
I especially liked the PT 1430, think it could have done everything my J.D. 790 can,
except run the chipper.

I'm sorry to say David, your a 1 1/2 late with this information an I'm a dollar short.

The only hope for me now is finding a good welder to engineer my
existing 3 pt equipment to fit the iMatch hitch.

I see now that Deere has a quick hitch for attaching equipment to the FEL.
Putting the bucket on/off is not a problem but the snow plow an pallet forks
can be a real chore if not perfectly level with the loader arms. With luck maybe
there's a good welder to fix that too...

In the mean time, guess I'll do allot of cursing....

>The ultimate solution is 1 tractor per implement.

John, I really like that idea, think i'll go a buy some lottery tickets

My tractor won't roll like that unless I'm on a hard surface like concrete or asphalt, two things that I have neither of. I find using the hydrostatic this way to be as easy and controlable as can be. Once I get into the right position, the hydrostatic keeps it held in position as well. Rat...

I looked at the 790 when I was tractor shopping. Major HP for your dollar!

I had problems with 5' Huskee brush hog and 6' box blade. Same company, same cat1 rating. Different pin widths /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif Fortunately I had a manual crank on my right 3pt lift arm on my IH2500b. It was pretty easy to back up to an attachment and get the left arm directly over the pin, then shut everything down, get out and lower the arms by gravity until it fit, then crank the right arm up or down to the correct height. Back then I was strong enough to make any fore and aft adjustments by just picking up the side of the implement and sliding it forward or backwards. These days, my back can't take it./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Gunfighter - "I especially liked the PT 1430, think it could have done everything my J.D. 790 can,

I looked at the Power-Trac web site and there are a lot of things I like about it, but I don’t see it replacing my Boomer or a JD790. Some implements work better on the back such as a moldboard plow or tiller or you would be driving on the plowed or tilled ground. Other implements will work well in the front at times, but will be better in the back at other times, such as a landscape rake when making the final pass before seeding grass or you would compact the soil after raking it.

The small tires on the Power-Trac and the low profile are great for mowing on slopes, but the lack of ground clearance would cause problems. I would bottom out in several areas. Also, the small diameter tires will not provide as much traction as large diameter tires.

Also, implements for the Power-Trac are much more expensive than the common 3pt implements.

I'm hoping someday someone will come out with a compact version of the New Holland TV140.
