Instead of bury Cat6, why not just use a wireless bridge? I have a wireless bridge run to our barn at about 400'. I'm running 10 cameras on it without issue. Still have enough bandwidth when we are in the barn to be able to stream music or videos to our phones. Simpler/faster/cheaper than running the wire. 10 minutes I can set a bridge up and have internet service in the out building.

What bridge are you using, I致e been looking at doing something like this?

Yes, please jwstewar - what brand and model are you using?

Does this work in a metal barn? (meaning walls, roof, and doors are all metal)

You are gonna need a window or an outside antenna.

Or a weatherproof outdoor bridge that can use a wired antenna for inside.

Not answering your question... but I'd simply go wireless. No muss, no fuss.

Last time I wired my entire house, every room, with Cat 6, within 6 months all that expense and work was wasted. Wireless eliminated the need totally.

AND for those that are interested, the wireless eliminates the RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) that is inherent in using copper cable for Ethernet. Since I am a big HF radio enthusiast I appreciate getting rid of all the Ethernet radiation from the copper cable. Yes, I managed to suppress a good deal of it with proper ferrite chokes, but it was an expensive hassle that is easily eliminated by using the 2.4 Ghz or 5 Ghz wireless router. So not only easier and cheaper to use wireless to start with, but it is also "greener" for the "environment" from a RF pollution standpoint. Ironic isn't it.

I fixed it for you. ;)

Despite posting on other threads today, OP hasn't returned to this one to explain what type of device would be in use or if there is utility power at the distant end.
