Asphalt here is about 90.00 / ton. A friend of mine owns the paving company and he did me a favor by allowing me to pay his guys and pay for the mix. My cost would likely do you no good In your area.

It does look very nice. I went through the decision process earlier this year. Concrete was out of the question for me, due to the added property taxes associated with it. I was considering paving, but checked into "chip and seal", and ended up going with that. Paid a little less than $1 per square foot for my 1,400' drive, have had it for a little over a month now, and I'm very happy with it. Like you, I hated the dust and constant maintenance of my gravel drive.

I do love the look of a freshly paved drive.

I had looked into that as well. Not very deeply as there were no local companies here. I was under the impression chip seal was better suited to go over pre existing pavement and not so well suited for going over processed gravel that we have.

Asphalt here is about 90.00 / ton.

I no longer keep up with asphalt (A.C.) material prices, but it sure seems it should
be less than $90/T now, given the sub-$50/bbl cost of crude. Makes me think
it could be MORE than that here is CA.

Anyway, my neighbors on my private road have threatened to repave their part this
summer, and so far, bupkus. It is now so bad, I bypass sections of it on my ATV
when I go up there, cuz it is smoother offroad.

Whenever it rains, their base-rock gravel gets washed onto my paved section, and
then, I have dust. I hate dust. :(

I have suggested "double oil-and-screen", which costs less than A.C., but can work
quite well over a decent compacted base. Often the county will use a similar
method, called chipseal, to dress up tired asphalt roads.

I was leery of the same thing. Talked to the contractor, asked a lot of questions, and went and looked at four other driveways that he had done. I understand that the chip and seal is as strong as your base. I was worried about occasional truck traffic, but have not seen anything that would cause me concern as of yet. Time will tell I guess.

Your drive looks great. I'll bet you're very happy.
