nice job Dad.
I read up a little more on the water blocking filters. Says 17 micron but it's the water blocking part I found most interesting. Corn starch?
Water-absorbing polymers trap water, restricting fuel flow when it is time to replace the element advertising
Corn starch is not a polymer to my understanding but I am sure no chemist, but one writer said he thought they used corn starch which of course would swell up.
But is the cure worse? As long as 17 micron micro chunks of corn starch won't hurt the injectors or engine. ?? Corn starch is a polishing media...
Or 17 micro grains of anything that gets outside of that filter. One would think filter media is supposed to stay put...though there are lots of pics out there
showing failed oil and fuel filters. Other than total neglect, can't imagine one of these fuel tank filters failing under such low pressure.
So...anyone know the chemistry behind Goldenrod's water block filter? Is it like a membrane in a water maker that uses high water pressure through a very fine
membrane? Maybe a low pressure version with bigger "holes". I'm guessing a plasticized specialty coating on regular media with 17 micron holes. Make the holes too small and you'd better have a really big filter to get fuel through it very fast.
I know I should go to Google and look up the size of a water molecule...
Doesn't matter, they work apparently, and I'm ordering another unit just like I have but with the water bloc filter in it.
Though that screw on filter sure looks good.
