I JUST GOT MY 2305 TODAY

We got our first snow yesterday, about 4-5 inches. I got the chance to try out my 47' snowthrower and JD 2520. I thought that I would try the 200CX FEL before taking it off. It moved the snow easily enough but to have to scoop it up and turn and dump was time consuming. I was also thinking about the bottom of the blade wearing on the blacktop. Then I installed the blower. The snow was pretty wet and slushy. Lots of dirt in it too from the driveway due to the new house construction. I was not very impressed. The snow would only shoot out about 5 feet and the chute was plugging up often. Once in a while there would be some dryer snow that would shoot out about 10 feet.
This morning I took it to another site. The snow was much dryer and more frozen from the cooler night. The blower performed much better throwing the snow about 25 feet and not plugging up. I am hoping that with a cold normal season snow, the snowblower will do a good job.
Any other comments from users of the 47" front blower?

Watch the angle of the manually adjustable chute on to of the director stack. Don't have the angle to acute in wet snow or you will jamb up the chute. Is yours a two stage blower? It should scream if it is.

The JD toothbar is not listed as an option for the 2000 series, but if you have the 61" bucket on your FEL, then you can have the toothbar for the 3000 series/61" bucket installed. The JD toothbar works great for me, but there are many other quality options available too. It was $300 installed by the dealer.

I got the Markhan, but I did not know about teh JD Option for the 61" bucket.

Stuarth,

Nice picture. I see you have been using the loader and don't under estimate how quickly you can get that machine upset without ballast on the rear.

Remember shinny side up

my mower deck on my 2305 makes a high pitched whirring sound. ha ha i know what you are thinking but i have never owned anything but a craftsman lawn tractor for mowing, and i'm sure it's normal - it sounds like gearbox/belt noise. the LX6 rotary cutter i put on my 4310 makes nearly the same sound but this tractor is tiny compared to that one. i would expect that sound from a rotary cutter but not my mid-mount? are the gearboxes similar? by the way, nice 2305! i love mine so far. just welded on some bucket hooks today.

i was too lazy one day too hook up my ballast box, moving wood chips and i didn't care cause they are light. last scoop was mostly sand and rocks disguised as wood chips, allmost put myself down the canyon i was dumping in. you cannot stop w/full bucket and no ballast in 2wd!!!! i dropped that bucket sooo fast, did the quick lookaround to make sure nobody saw, and went and got my box on.

Sounds a little scary... :) I would bet, we've all been there. 1st day I ever used a skidloader I got pretty comfortable very quickly. Soon found myself moving dirt fasttttt. Then I started running bucket up to dump before I was stopped.... which led me to just about put it on it's face... I dropped the bucket ultra fast... sat for a minute... took a deep breathe and continued at a much safer pace ;) Used one again a year and a half ago and even when I thought I was being cautious found my self in a tippy situation once or twice. Gotta use caution... AND as you've mentioned... BALLAST always.
