I need an AR-15

   / I need an AR-15 #101
I shoot a lot of the steel cased ammo.. It's cheap, and I blow through a lot of it.. Never had an issue with it..

   / I need an AR-15 #102
Mine has some of these features chrome moly barrel, gas piston, foward assist, dust cover, and it was $530.00 shipped to ffl $10.00 transfer fee...
I shoot it with a bump fire stock, .. I can shoot 5- 40 round mags.. 1 right after the other ,and it doesn't miss a beat

Chrome moly ID the low end barrel. 4140 is the bottom, 4150 is better.

I was talking about linings. Chrome plated, nitrided, etc. Doubt you got any of that in a $530 gun

Jeff we could argue forever about the merits of direct impingment like the AR556 has and the operating rod models. But there is nothing wrong with the Ruger and a whole lot of things right with it. In my opinion while there are many fine direct impingement Ar's out there, The Ruger as as good as any, and better than many. Ruger® AR-556® * Autoloading Rifle Models

Thank you!

Maybe I'll write a review after I get it. :D

It's what ever Mil spec is,,, as it list the Barrel mil spec as MIL-B-11595.. I'll try to look that spec up later.Got a job to go to this am

That barrel mil spec, as to my understanding, only means its made from the same metal. Has nothing to do with linings (chrome lined or nitrided)

Mil spec is a basic guideline. Lots of parts exceed mil spec. IE: if you want a stainless barrel......those aint mil spec.

Mil spec barrels also usually have specif contours, and an area where the barrel is turned down pretty small for attaching a grenade launcher I think. IMO, that is a weak spot in the barrel. A barrel absent this feature would be better IMO, but not mil spec.

There is no doubt you probably got a mil-spec 4150 steel barrel. But probably not a high dollar chrome lined or nitrided barrel

Windham Weaponry if it hasnt been mentioned yet. Nice fit and finish on their stuff.

I don't own any AR 15 s. My sons(4) own the DPMS/SIG/WINDHAM/BLACK RAIN and who knows what else . I'am a cowboy action fan an I have put away a FN SCAR17S (black) of course in 308(not an AR 15).. Haven't even fired it yet still has iron sights .
Been watching like some others have stated here the "political winds" and waiting to see if the FN SCAR 17S prices soar .
Then would sell mine and use my sons excess AR 15 s if faced with a zombie apocalypse ;) My long range sniper rifle is a Davide Pedersoli sharps Quigley rifle in 45-70.Yes 13 pounds ! :D

Here's my kit PSA 16" Mid Length 5.56 NATO 1:7 Premium Rifle Kit - 55387

Not chromed lined... I guess the military don't use chrome lined barrels.. They just use the above specs

Not an LE 6920.. but not $1200 bucks either..will it last ? don't know.. if it doesn't I'll buy an LE6920

I also have a DPMS that doesn't meet any spec.. never had any problems out of it either

Don't know about the place turned down on the barrel being a weak spot... My brother used 1 with a turned down barrel for 3 tours in the middle east.. Not 1 bent or broke

If we had a crystal ball, we would know whether to start selling or to start buying everything in sight.

Actually, that is a chrome lined barrel if you scroll down.

But maybe I missed somewhere earlier you said it was a kit? So yea, $530 buys you alot more than buying a complete gun somewhere. The $600 price range guns like the delton sport, rugar AR556, a few of the DPMS's, M&P sport, etc and you arent getting a chrome lined or nitrided barrel.

We were comparing two different things.
