I need an AR-15

What upper did you put on your M&P?

Same upper, I installed an Adams Arms piston conversion kit because it has a dial to adjust the gas pressure hitting the piston. I got tired of all the blowback I was getting with my suppressor installed. It creates more pressure so now I can dial it down or turn it off completely for single shot action which is a little quieter.

The kit comes with a new gas block, piston and bolt carrier... Super easy to install.

My POV with these guns is... When buying your first just go get one... Have a ton of fun with it... Then customize it and have more fun... I had more fun building my own suppressor and figuring out how to remove the FSB while installing a custom piston kit than shooting it..... Well maybe not more :)

I'm now looking for an ar15. I was looking at gander mountain, and saw a bush master with the red dot. Does anyone have one of these? Are they good or should I keep looking?

Windham Weaponry makes a nice Ar-15, owner is the former CEO of bushmaster. AR's are all the same structure different quality. I found Windham and liked the lifetime transferable warranty. Not over the top expensive. They make a .308platform I want next, looks like an AR-15 but with wood instead of polymer. Anyways I've had mine for 3 years and have enjoyed it. I compete for my job and shoot several brands and really like all, the only one I have found (IMHO) that does not hold up to advanced shooting i.e large volumes of rounds is the DPMS. We used one at the range and ended up warping the barrel, but again after a lot of rounds probably not what the average person would do or was recommended by the manufacturer.

This is similar to the one I carry for duty a lot of extras not necessary for home defense....

And no I don't concern myself with my guns getting confiscated, the shear volume of guns in the country coupled with the nature of the people that carry them would make it next to impossible to go door to door to take them. Not to mention the volume of calls we would be getting about all the stolen and lost guns within 15min. of that announcement. ;)

Thanks for the info guys. I went to my local gun dealer today, and he had quite a selection. The big gun show will be here in a couple of weeks and I will look around there before I buy anything.

I wouldn't buy one from a gun show. Why? Because it's mostly a bunch of Frankenstein guns, in other words rifles slapped together with crappy parts and passed off as a "custom rifle". Yeah it's custom alright, custom junk. When you decide if you want to buy a complete rifle or build your own, look at Palmetto State Armory. They're near my house and I know many people who order all sorts of stuff from them, even complete rifles. For the dollar they're hard to be, you really do get what you pay for with them.

I've looked at PSA before and they always seem to be "out of stock" on name brands but, no problem with their own PSA Branded items?

Their "Freedom" line is the best $600-700 rifle you can buy in my opinion. Everything is mil-spec and they don't cut any corners. Where you save money is their barrels aren't chrome lines or are their bolt carrier groups, that's how you get to the price point they sell at. They have a premium line that is about $50-100 more and has all the options. All their barrels are FN barrels which is top of the line.

At my work PSA means People Standing Around. What does it mean here?

Thanks,
Jeff
