I know what you mean oosik, but the cost is the factor here. If I can get away with a selector valve and some hoses, it will be allot more cost effective for me. I do enjoy doing stuff like this, I just need a better understanding how it all works.

Thanks for the links TripleR. So of what I read, I would need to purchase the valve and the hoses. I believe my FEL lever has a switch installed already in it that I could use for the valve. I think that is what the switch would be used for if I purchased a third function. I don't have the tractor yet to know for sure. Now the one thing I do want to use this for is a rock hound landscape rake. So if I switch over the valve to power the RH, since the RH will need to keep spinning while using it, I would have to hold the curl lever in the open position or it would stop spinning if I let it go. I hope that made sense.

That is how I understand it, but as mentioned I really "know" little about any of this, J J and others can give you a definitive answer.

I appreciate the help TripleR. You led me in the right direction. Maybe JJ will chime back in. He seems to have allot of experience in this subject by reading the post you sent me.

If you use the curl up for the RH, you would have to bungee the lever on for continuous operation.

The diverter valve needs some short hoses and a switch to control the diverter.

The diverter valve will switch from curl to RH, but the FEL lever Curl up will provide the flow.

One of the other guys used a 3rd function solenoid valve to provide continuous flow to the RH using an on/off switch.

You could also use the 3rd function to control a grapple using a momentary switch.

Thanks JJ. So the diverter valve would mount close to the existing FEL valve. I would then need to run long hoses does to the front of the FEL for the RH or anything other attachment. Is that correct?

One of the other guys used a 3rd function solenoid valve to provide continuous flow to the RH using an on/off switch.

Just for the record, the manual for my WR Long 3rd function valve kit for a Kubota 4330 cautions against using their valve for continuous flow. I guessed that the solenoid would burn up if it is energized too long. It's been great for momentary use, like a grapple. This particular valve was purchased 5 or 10 years ago.

You have to get the right valve for hyd motor.

J_J
I have a question about hyd control valves for orbit motors? Over the yrs I seen orbit motors operated on regular ag tractor remotes with no ill affects other than heating of the hyd oil. The implements I'm referring to are Vermeer hay rakes,JD hay rakes, augers & planters with orbit motors. So how do these orbit motors operate on regular scv's with no problems?
Thanks,Jim

Those scv might have motor spools in them.

There is usually no problem with running a hyd motor from any hyd valve as long as the valve ports are matched to the pump flow.

If spring centered valve , you would have to bungee the lever on.

I would use detent motor spool valve for hyd motors or proportional valves and dial in the speed.

A motor spool valve is designed to allow the spinning hyd motor with load to decelerate with no shock involved.

They might even use special solenoid valves for constant on to take care of the heat problem..

Using a slow turning hyd motor or a hyd motor with very little centrifugal force, one could use any valve matched to the flow.

Something like a hyd driven bush hog, would require a motor spool valve, whereas a cyl spool valve in neutral would cause the hyd motor to act as a pump and will try to pressurized the circuit.

With nowhere for the fluid to go, damage could occur.

The motor spool allows the flow to subside with very little pressure until the motor stops.

You could do the same with a cyl spool if you lowered the flow gradually. .

If valve has float, you could use the float mode to let the hyd motor decelerate.
