I Ordered DeWalt Tools From China

I'm soon to be 58. I work with a lot of guys much younger than me. Most, if not all of them, have at least one tattoo. Most have multiple tatoos. All of them are hard working, honorable guys. Work hard. Play hard. Responsible guys with wives, kids, mortgages, etc.... I'm proud to call them my friends. ;)

I agree, the only thing that a tattoo indicates to me is that they decided to gat a tattoo at some point.
Beyond that, they may have gotten it 10 years ago and completely changed their life since then, but the presence or absence of a tattoo by itself does not indicate anything about how they will act.
Personally, I would not get one but that's just me and if someone else wants to get one, that's their business.

Almost every time the question of tats come up someone is going to trot out the same line of defense of people with tats like they have to justify their friendship with those people and proclaim that good people have tattoos. ‘Responsible....family....changed lives...got it in younger days....hard working....mortgages....etc, etc’.

I never understood why they felt the need to defend their friends tattoos to such extent. I didn’t say everyone with a tattoo was a serial killer, dead beat, drunk, wife beating, scumbag. They aren’t.

But the fact that people are so sensitive about defending tattoo wearers tells me that they recognize difference of some negative connotation enough of the time to feel the need to jump to the defense.

And everyone who has a tat knows it’s recognized by other people. Some go to great extent to be sure their tats are very visible and prominent. They are sending a message, often very strongly, with their tats.

Some people regret getting them. Our son had a friend sleeves on both arms. He was a responsible business owner with a family and was a great father to his kids and husband to his wife. He regretted the tats and told me that he would do everything he could to make sure his kids did not get them.

Some people get them for a reason in a discreet place and the casual acquaintance or even friend never knows. It’s really “to each his own”. I’m glad we have that right. It can revel something about the person displaying the tattoo. But so can many, many other verbal and nonverbal indicators. You have to read the person carefully and individually.

So when are these tools due in?
The PayPal web site says I can file a claim up to 180 days after purchase. I値l wait another month or two. At this point I just want to see what happens.

The last China item I ordered from EBay said it might take over a month to arrive.
I got it with NO acknowledgement in about 2 weeks.
It just showed up in the mail one day.

I buy lots of small stuff from Banggood. They give you an option of postage. I ordered 2 items on 13th Dec. One was expedited post, cost around $2.00 extra. It arrived on the 24th Dec. I am still waiting on the freepost item. Should be here this week. Christmas time can set huge delays from China. Only one time ever some small item never arrived and it was a Christmas post as well.
Hillstreet, I am sure your item will arrive OK.

I was just watching 1puglife. He just got some stuff from Banggood. A thermal image scope and clamp on meter.

I have ordered several items from banggood and never had any problems, they seem to err on the side of caution when quoting delivery times and every item I have received has been way ahead of time.

On the tats, if I was introduced to a woman with a big tat on her leg I'd say "Hi" and "gotta go." And if I see a guy coming up to the front door with tats on his neck and face I'd grab the Judge before answering the door. Tattoos do send a message sometimes.

Good luck with the Ebay purchase, had some real winners and a couple losers - but covered by Ebay/Paypal.

Like I said. Doesn't mean good or bad to me. Just that they are probably "followers" as are most people. The fact, that some peoples tats look like a three year old scribbled on them, is besides the point.

Thanks Alien. I am good with waiting, although I am curious to see if the tools are good, or if they are junk. A lot of us on this site have purchased stuff from HF and it was not the best but hey, they serve a purpose. I will let you all know.

my partner is Chinese and apparently the thing they do over there is when they have finished the day shift, a whole new crew come on and carry on making brand name stuff under a different name, or just same name. Stihl had a big problem with this.

I heard that this was very common at first before the manufactures (sellers) got smart, then they would contract say a motor, or a case, or some other part, all from different manufacturers and then have them send else where for assembly, (they may be assembled in the USA out genuine chinese part, but it was the only way to keep the chinese from stealing the entire product, or producing it and selling it themselves,

Years ago a friend visited a Chinese factory and viewed a production line of pneumatic tools.
He said the line would stop from time to time to simply change the brand names and keep on going.

You will observe that many castings simply have a polished insert area that accepts the logo or trade mark rather than embossed logos in many cases.

I still today have a Chinese air tool that came from that factory and it still works just fine. (over 20 yrs old)

FYI DeWalt/Black and Decker tools combined with Stanley now dominate the tool market as both have gobbled up hoards of their former competitors.

At almost 70 years old, any tool purchases made now don't really need to be top quality or last a lifetime. Just sayin'.

^^ There comes a time when you start wondering about WHICH lifetime, the tool's or yours.

LOL, the tool's.
If it quits tomorrow, tomorrow is the end of its life hence no guarantee.

Like the used car joke guarantee, one year or one foot.

Hello Everybody, I am the OP on this thread and... I filed a claim yesterday with PayPal. I emailed the seller three times with no response. PayPal does have the information (in the Chinese language) so they do have a record. I got correspondence from them saying to give them (PayPal) 30 days for a resolution. We’ll see.

It might be being held up in customs for any number of reasons (perhaps even something Dewalt did...we are currently having some "issues" with Chinese trade). My son decided to buy a 3D printer kit from China and I think that sat in customs for months.

Well I never thought of that but now that you mention it there could be disruption in trade. I didn’t get any response from the three emails so I pulled the plug. Maybe PayPal will have some information.
