Alan I am in the same boat you are in , I checked about getting a tank etc. and ran into the same situation, wasn't worth it to me , so I just use a couple of 5 gal. cans like you.I buy the reg. diesel also as I only use 75 to 100 gal. or so a year so it no big deal for me and the fuel is already taken care of for the cold winter months we have up here.where I buy my fuel he sells both but claims they are not the same fuel anymore,I don't really know for sure.

HI HERB,
IM not sure, but i think you still need to add that stuff to keep it from gelling ,when it gets real cold..right?The guys here about flipped when my dealer told me to cut it 50 50 with kerosene.I know where you are from around these parts you know it has been common practice for farmers and lumbermen, since the invention of a diesal motor.I just added power service last year,it never got below-10 no problems. What do you think are we in for a hard winter?

With the new Ultra Low Sulfer Diesel they won't be able to cut on the road diesel with kerosene anymore unless the supplier want's to pay some rather hefty federal fines.

HI, What i was referring to was the off road users [farmers, loggers etc]cutting theirs. We got fuel checkers who check the on road diesals,if they find offroad or kero in your rig,you better dig out the checkbook. One of my friends does this job for the state.

I also looked into having off road delivered. They require a costly set-up, before they will bring it.

I have two 30+ gal plastic barrels that I take and fill up with off road. They are fairly easy to move around.

Two weeks ago I paid $2.29/ Gal. A big new sign on the pump declared that the contents were "High Sulphur".

I had an old plunger type barrel pump. I have owned it for 30 some years, and it was well used before that. It had been in my shed unused for about the last 20 yrs. I cleaned it up and away it went. Didn't have to repair or replace anything. Boy, didn't they make some quality stuff back when....

Speaking of off road diesel, how much is is right now in your area??
I just went to fill up the neighbor's Bobcat the other day and hit bottom in my tank so I called Campbell Oil to order and schedule a fuel delivery - prices were $2.02/gal for regular O/R and $2.04/gal for premium (winterized & treated), plus Ohio State Sales Tax (5.75 %)

I don't use all that much fuel myself (I got around 150 gallons, the minimum for delivery, this time last year), but I've been filling equipment for friends and neighbor's that have been helping me out on projects around our place. And since it's the same as HHO (here), I can burn it in my torpedo heater.

As far as storage costs go, the used 275 gallon storage tote I use to store the fuel was $50 dollars from my fuel supplier. The largest cost item was a 12 vdc electric fuel pump @ $200 from TSC. Add another $40 for a filter, fittings, etc. For me it's worth the convience.

Dang!! I'm still holding out but my tank is getting lower. The problem is that I thought that $2.15 (plus tax) was too high a week ago; now it's $2.29 (plus tax) for O/R #2. I'd fill my tank at the $2.02 (plus tax), but I can't get that here. I guess I'll keep waiting until it comes down here or I run out...

I'm still deciding whether to get one of the bed box/aux tanks for the truck. The oil man around here wants about "on road" price to deliver and the "off road" station sells for just slightly less than the high volume truck stop in town. On road diesel in SE Louisiana about 2.40
