I Still Hate My Tractor II

Here's another valid complaint I have.

When using the rear diff lock one must apply decent pressure to keep it engaged. On a bumpy uphill the pressure comes off the operator's seat and the engine dies.

This is a total turn off, get it?

So you can install a turbo on your tractor, but can't delete a seat switch ???

I'm guessing that Fred is an excellent fisherman.

I was 200 lbs but I lost 30 so the stupid seat would stop banging the stops.

Looks like that was a mistake just like the purchase.

Fred

Congrats on the 30#!!!

I've deleted or overrode every seat switch I've ever owned.

Yup, me too. When mowing if I swivel my butt in the seat to look back the engine died. That's just silly. I unplugged the seat switch and jumpered the leads.

Seat banging the stops, #5
diff lock #6 etc.
I say why don't you post a list of all your dislikes and we'll see which ones are valid

1) No power
2) FEL little capacity (with forks it pixs 1850 lbs pressure set at 2950 psi.
3) FEL TWITCHY. Too fast
4) Seat bangs the stops; or lack thereof
5) Paint faded before 1 year old (simply not acceptable today)
6) Outrageous parts prices (typical with most Japan brands)
7) Differential lock lever in a really bad location
8) Engine wouldn't start cold (remedied with correct glow plug relay) factory screw up
9) Radio would come in and out (factory never completely seated radio harness, least of anyone's worries
10) HST pedal ergonomics absolutely stink; cannot get comfortable using HST as a rocker for fast forward /reverse action
11) R4s. My fault

Richard I DO usually disconnect pesky safety switches but I truly feel this ONE device could save my life someday. I seem to feel the need to be lazy and I would try to move the machine while standing beside it to hook up an implement yada yada.

I think a remote bypass that must be held by the operator would be a good idea. Kind of like a remote starter switch to bump an engine over to check valve clearances.

Regards Fred

1) No power Agreed, but I would love to have your power
2) FEL little capacity (with forks it pixs 1850 lbs pressure set at 2950 psi. Agreed
3) FEL TWITCHY. Too fast lower the rpms or let it hiss as you feather
4) Seat bangs the stops; or lack thereof tighten the knob 230 lbs does not bang with me.
5) Paint faded before 1 year old (simply not acceptable today) Mine is kept inside. but you're right shouldn't happen.
6) Outrageous parts prices (typical with most Japan brands) Yup I agree
7) Differential lock lever in a really bad location Yes I agree, never even use it. but the paint is worn off from hitting it.
8) Engine wouldn't start cold (remedied with correct glow plug relay) factory screw up I didn't have that problem then again mine is 3240
9) Radio would come in and out (factory never completely seated radio harness, least of anyone's worries ???
10) HST pedal ergonomics absolutely stink; cannot get comfortable using HST as a rocker for fast forward /reverse action Not a problem for me at all, I don't ever use it as a rocker I use toe only forward or reverse, never a thought about it. If fact this is news to me.

With 27,000 to go, trade it in. Seriously, I would not spend that much 27K on something I do not like.
Do you like any of the other new Kubotas? Thats my problem I don't like the new ones. I feel I got the best model right now.

I would say because of the new engines a lot of dealers would be interested in your tractor as a trade.
Remove the turbo buy a new side panel and what ever other part you removed and trade it in. You putting the turbo on did not damage the tractor in anyway. Put it back to stock and forget it.

Since you still have a ways to go before its paid for just trade it in. What the H**L so you spend a little more and get what you want, the payments will probably be the same, just a little longer. Your tractor is your down payment so NO cash out of pocket. I would look into it.
Whats it going to take you 2hrs to put it back to stock? Probably another 1hr to flush the beer out of the hydraulic system.

If it was me that is what I would do, think of the fun , the rush, the feeling you get when you buy something new. Do it. Maybe look at John Deere etc.
Tell you the truth I can find BIG problems with all of them staring with the BX

But if you do get one of the new Kubota's I can definitely see a new thread happening,
I Hate my second New Kubota more, regeneration WHAT!!!!

Sample first post
I hate my new tractor its been doing this regeneration thing now for two hrs. lights are flashing, I have no idea when it will stop, I want to go to bed, the paint on the hood is burned. The first thing I'm going to do when this stops . I will be reworking the engine to a 2009 Bobcat and use many Volvo parts maybe even some VW parts and removing all this regeneration stuff. The seat bottoms out. The diff lock is in a stupid place,
and the fel is still twitchy, worse than my 3940. I have 48,000 to go with the payments and I hate it even more.:D

I know I would be 20K richer if I just kept my B3030 I could have lived with that tractor, Oh well, at least I like mine to a point. Maybe someday they will perfect the new tractors and make one I like. EPA, look what they did to gasoline containers, my opinion they are more dangerous now, you spend twice as long trying to get the gas out of them. Now they had to **** with the engines? No thanks. The one thing I know in this life is the perfect tractor does not exists.

Not intending to hijack the thread, but quick story about computerized safety parameters.

Few years ago my township bought a new JD road grader. After a couple hundred hours the starter solenoid began acting up. Sometimes you'd hafta jump it with a screwdriver to get the machine to start. It will only start in park. Power shift transmission that does not require clutch action to shift from park to any gear. To reach the starter you had to stand between the tandem drives and reach over the frame rail, down into the engine compartment. One morning it wouldn't start. Cussing, I jumped out with the screwdriver and jump started it. Still cussing I got back in the machine and grabbed for the shifter to back out of the shed....... The grader had refused to start with the key because I had not put it in park when I shut it off the previous day. It was in 4F gear. The computer was smart enough to allow the engine to start by screwdriver, but not allow the transmission to engage. With engine idling I put it in park, then shifted to 1R and it backed out of the shop. For a couple minutes I had a sickening feeling as I thought about what had just happened. If JD had not designed those safety features into that machine it would have started and immediately moved forward as the transmission engaged. It would have certainly ran over me and most certainly killed me.

So I understand a need for safety switches. I often start my tractor while standing beside it. All three tractors have safety switches on their respective shuttle levers and/or HST pedals. I leave those operational for the reasons you talked about.
