I know that grey stuff isn't grits, but as far as being too far north....being a truck driver, I have eaten grits that were listed on the menu in restaurants as far north as MAINE!
David from jax

I've never seen grits on a menu north of Memphis, but I've not been to Maine either. :)

Kubota or any tractor Co has no business adding a cab & AC to a 30hp HST rig! Just sayin...

I agree, a 4000lb tractor with 30hp is a dog to start with. Add a loader and required counter weight and you have a pathetic under powered machine. Can't imagine what it would be like with a cab and air. Guess you just sit still in the cab and enjoy the cool air.

I eat breakfast at Denny's in Augusta every Tuesday morning. Grits are on the menu (but never on my plate).

Note that it is a 33 PTO hp machine. It has 38.5 or 40.5 engine HP (depending on if you want gross or net hp)

Fred, my gear drive L3800DT is never lacking for power.

Put a manual trans in yours and see if that does it...;)

LOL here's the welfare pump that got me in trouble in that other thread. I laughed so hard that day.

I don't know I have a 3240 the baby of babies with A/C, Cab, loaded tires and a backhoe. Not to mention 400 lbs of mods. By the way it's a 34hp. I never have a problem with power. I have six speeds Yes I may have to use a lower gear sometimes but it does everything I need to do with it.
It really is not as bad as you guys are saying. Drove 5 miles on the road with hills each way last year in High gear with just using the paddle shifter on the hills.
Felt just like an 18 wheeler down shifting on the hills. The air was on, backhoe was on, stereo was on. Can't wait to do it again this year.
Now if I had 5740 I would see the difference, The difference maybe on the 5 mile trip would be I would get there 5 mins faster and may or may not have to use the turtle shifter.

Right now I don't know any better and I'm happy.

My last tractor a B3030 with cab and backhoe a 30hp Never had a power problem with that also.
You have to pick a tractor for your needs. Can't make just 50hp tractors for everyone.

I have to agree with this for most of us. On the other hand, The Fred wanted more power so he engineered in more power. So hats off to him. Not everyone needs to do what The Fred did and they are satisfied with what power they have. So hats off to them. It's all good.
