Shop manual for the 5740 (turbocharged) shows NO piston cooling jets either. So where are they? Nobody has been able to show me that any Kubota has them. None of the parts pix show piston cooling jets on any of their engines.

Dealer dyno proved this machine and showed me it was within 5% of advertised. I have not checked timing, another good point. The dealer simply gave me all the hoopla that this machine is what it is, an unbroken, working properly unit. It's mine now, I'll deal with it.

Fred

I believe they are a part of the block so they will not show as as a separate part as they do on other engines.

I've read several of Fred's posts. Sadly,, I don't think there's a fix for this problem. The Honeymoon is over. The Marriage is doomed. Throwing money at this tractor will not fix the problem. Depending on financial situation, it's either tolerate it until finances improve or trade it. There's nothing specifically wrong with this tractor. It just can't live up to Fred's expecations. No fault here. :(

Sad story indeed. This puts the term buyers remorse in perspective.

After the dyno experience did the dealer give a price on moving into something with more hp? Have you thought about simply advertising it for sale rather than investing time and money into creating Frankenbota?

If I hated my tractor that much I sure wouldn't wait until spring to trade if there was any way around it.

Especially with the emissions equipped stuff coming out soon.

R4s SUCK in the snow/ice.
I have been trying to tell people that for years. Get the premium R3's.

Engine won't start very well in the cold compared to other Diesel equipment I have.
I went out one morning in my detached unheated pole barn when it was 0F (real ambient, not wind chill) just to see if my L3940 would start. Started right after one cycle of glow plugs.

I have been very happy with mine, never let me down, and I have used mine to limit. No complaints. I really don't think your problems will be solved with a turbo. Try a different but similar tractor and see if you have same issue. Something else here is going on.......

Happy L3940 owner since 2009. Philip.
