Personally I would have avoided HST and R-4s'.

But it looks like some operator error here.

I'd be trading sooner than later, before trying to modify a underpowered rig!

should you want to trade up in the future, do you think the turbo add on will increase or decrease trade in value having modified original stock engine?. something to think about. i'd just bite the bullet and trade up given your elaborated dissatisfaction. been there myself. otoh if you do go turbo, best of luck!!

Adding a turbo should increase o'all power some, but how will boost be regulated, if at all? Waste gate, digital control system w/MAP monitoring, etc(?)

Head gasket issues ? :confused3:

A shot of the turbo drain and feed line would really help thanks. I believe the turbo drain location (in the block) on this one is buried behind the frame. Obviously I will not compromise the frame strength.
I have most room where the stock muffler resides therefore I think I will mount the turbo high and drain into the valve cover. The oil feed is easy coming from the oil pressure sender on the block. The oil cooler part looks easy behind the oil filter and tap into the coolant lines to the cab.

Not worried about resale at this point because I will make everything removal with the exception of the valve cover drain. The valve cover is coming off tonight and I will check the glowplugs, that's an easy one. The same fuel I use in my other equipment has never bothered ever hoping it's isn't the issue. I have to fill my 330 gal. tank later this month I'll be sure to use ULSD on road.

Head gasket issues? Hasn't used any coolant. I downloaded the WSM manual the first week I had the tractor. Pix are fuzzy at best but ok, oil squirters are never mentioned in any of the manual, 5740turbo included.

Look at some of the post of those who have installed a turbo. Everyone seems quite happy.

I didnt write my question that correctly, I was wondering if the added cylinder pressure will compromise your stock head gasket?

You start yours at 1/4 throttle? Havent tried that. (although my new one fires off instantly, so never felt the need to try any other way)

Only when its cold enough to need the glow plugs otherwise it starts just fine

Stock Kubota wastegate is set at 7 psi. I would doubt it will be an issue. I would bet the head gasket is the same one as the Bobcat S160.

I wouldn't buy it any more than I would buy a diesel truck that had been chipped and then the chip was removed to sell it... No way to know if anything was mucked up inside from the extra pressure.

Would you buy it with less than 100 hrs on it if you had no idea it ever had a turbo?
